I've sold off many firearms, as I'm long retired and am not here for the long haul.

Most of the $$$$ is in savings but I got some good trade-in money enabling me
to buy three top-end handguns - that I never would have purchased otherwise.
So, I figure - I would keep:

Sig P-210, 9MM Target Pistol.
Sig Sauer, 320 AXG 'Classic' (Talo Excllusive) 9MM Pistol.
Kimber K6S DASA, Target Revolver .357 MAG.

Otherwise (more peactically) & because I shoot them so well,
and two of them 'carry' anywhere:

Ruger LCRX DA, 3" BBL - 38 SPL Revolver.
Kimber Micro - 9MM
CZ 85 'Combat' (Glossy Blue) 9MM.

A man after my own heart gnoahhh. I have a matched set of OMs in 38 and 22. Both made in 37. Both at least 90%. So my picks at this moment.
SW Shield in 40
Customized Gold Cup
Bisley Blackhawk in 45 Colt.
Shedding tears over my 22rfs

I hear you about pre-war Colt OM's. They have a slight edge in accuracy over my K-Smiths, but I can shoot the K-22 a bit better for some dumb reason. There is something about the sheer slickness of a pre-war Colt OM that has to be experienced to understand. Now if I could only find an affordable Colt OMM in .32 my life would be complete!

Not being a "carrier of pistols", my list contains nothing geared toward combat/life saving utility. But the Gold Cup wouldn't be non too shabby in that regard, with a spring swap-out.

Lots of guys list a nice auto pistol, a heavy magnum revolver, and a 22 LR revolver or autopistol.

I would follow the trend, except I can replace the 22 LR with my six shot SP 101 in 327 mag. The action is tuned to equal most factory Smiths. It is quite accurate with handloads from 22 WMR equivalent to 38 +P equivalent.

Heavy magnum revolver is covered by a Smith 657 mountain Gun.

Autopistol is a Kimber 1911 with three barrels and seven mags in the case, in 9mm, 38 Super, & 10mm.

I would miss the Ruger SBH hunter in 41 mag. But what I can do with it, I can do with a rifle.

I would miss the Titanium 41 mag. But when I carry these days it is usually a 327.

I would really miss the single sevens, the single six, and the Ruger LCR for my pocket.

Three isn't enough to cover all the niches. Takes 5-6 minimum. Sticking with 3 means some things are not going to get done.

If I could only own 3 hand guns I'd get a better job.

I left out a .22 because they sell .22 conversion kits for the Glock 19, which made my list of three.

Wilson Combat ULC Professional bobtail .45.

Wilson Combat ULC Commander bobtail .45.

One sits on my nightstand, the other is my EDC.

No need for a third.

If we take self defense off the table, I could finish out the rest of my life shooting these 3 and never get bored.

I think the OMT .22 is my new favorite handgun. Anytime I go to the range it's the fist gun I reach for, and its the one I enjoy shooting the most. Trigger is a case study in perfection, sights have the most wonderful sight picture, and the revolver is just wicked accurate. OMG its fun.

Can't believe it took as long as it did for an OM to make the cut.

Small game

Self defense

Big game

Pick you brand & model.

TSHTF? I'll take much bigger, badder, higher cap stuff than a pistol.

Small game: Ruger Mk 2 target 5.5" bull barrel Volquartsen competition kit plus installed with Leupold 2.5x8 scope. I picked it over some other good choices I have such as an identical Ruger mk 2 target with green dot reflex on it, a Browning Field Target, a Browning Bullseye, a Smith & Wesson Victory, and several others.

Self defense: A Sig 365. It just works well for me in several different scenarios. I picked it over several other good choices I have such as a customized Sig 938, a S&W 1911sc, two Glock 19s, a Glock 26, a Glock 42, a PPK, a LCP, a SP101, and others.

Large game: A S&W 629 vcomp with 5" barrel (it was a special run many years ago). It has accounted for a number of deer and other critters over the years. I picked it over other good choices such as a S&W 69, a Ruger Redhawk, an xframe in 460, and others.
