I hit one at 75 mph last February, in my 19 Silverado. Lots of damage. Surprised that it was drivable. Repairs were $7100.

insurance company will probably still argue with ya
Buddy hit one and adjuster tried to say he didn't. My buddy grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him down to the bumper to show him the deer hair still in it.

In Idaho you can keep it but need to contact the IDFG to download and file a salvage report. You have 72 hrs to report it.

However the last time I hit a small whitetail doing maybe 30 in my suburban (kind of rolled it with the bottom of the bumper off the road); second day of rifle here in Pa and was going to pick my daughter up at her mothers to take her to school. Got her dropped off, called the PGC and reported so they issued me a number. Picked up the deer and took it to where we process our deer here. Gutted it, hung it and skinned. It was ALL bruised and no good, I'll never process another road kill as long as I live. OP, sorry for your misfortune. Good luck.

Major bummer especially that far away from home!!! We knock off around 19,000 a year on the roads here in WI. and so far I've been lucky. I've only ever hit one and talk about getting phugged, that deer was about to get the last laugh. I'd been out with a company guy from out of town and we hit the booze real hard after dinner. I was taking him back to his hotel and hit a deer. We need to call it in as a reportable accident and I was sure to get an owi as soon as a cop showed up. Just as I was about to call, the deer jumped up and took off. A broken motor mount and bent license plate was a small price to pay.
My other auto is a .45
The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of low price has faded from memory
