My neighbor is 81 and has been dippin since he was 14 (67 years)...no apparent ill effects.

Wondering if anyone can really beat that?

Had two co-workers pop oral cancer in their late 40's/early 50's.
Both within a month.

I had just started chewing tobacco again. Gave it up for good (mostly) then.

That's been 17 years ago, still miss the stuff anytime I see it or even think
of it. Cave in evry once in awhile and buy a bag or bum a chew. Couple hours with one and I'm ok for awhile. Been a long time since I've felt the need, maybe I finally got it whipped.

But, typing this now, I'm thinking of a chew,

I chewed for 30+ years and was never without a dip. I gave it up about 4 or 5 months ago. I miss chewing especially when I’m out fishing or huntin…or first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee or after a meal….actually come to think of it I miss it all the time. 😁. I enjoy my life too much to continue to chew so I quit. I wanna spend the next half of my life enjoying the time with my wife now that the kids are older and since I’m very healthy with no medical issues I figured that chewing was the biggest threat to my health and quit. I’ve never seen many old men chewing and surmised there’s a reason for that. When I was young I never gave much thought to what life would look like at 50 because I didn’t think I’d live that long…..but here I am still chugging along. I thank God everyday for the blessings he’s bestowed on me and my family so with life as good as it is I don’t wanna check out now, I have a lot more living to do.

For everyone that’s quit chewing I tip my hat to you. For those that want to quit but haven’t I pray that you find the strength to quit. For those that chew currently and don’t plan on quitting….you’re my hero. 😂

I mostly quit dipping and chewing 30 years ago, and miss it bad. My Dad (Smokey) is working on 95 and chews - smokes on a couple of cigars every day and has been since before WWll.

Best thig I ever quit, chewing and smoking, I look back and wonder what was I thinking. Quit smoking and continued chewing for another 20, quit that, and now it has tripled in price.

I chewed Copenhagen from the time I was about 14 until the time I was about 37. I have now not had a single dip in 20 years. I still do the occasional cigar thing though.

I quit about 8 years ago, mostly chew though. I had to have a 2nd back surgery and the Docs are getting so if you use tobacco, they won't do surgery on you. I had one co worker lose half his lower jaw from oral cancer and died 6 months later and two died of lung cancer from smoking.

I remember when I was about fifteen or so I had a buddy that dipped skoal. He would spit in a Dr.Pepper can . He left it on the kitchen counter one time and his mom walked by , picked up the can and downed it. She had him up against the wall by the neck threatening to kill him if he ever did that again . I can still picture her face and that was 45 years ago.

Quit dipping almost 16 years ago the day my son was born. I’d been doing it about 15 years. Nasty habit. See people do it now and I’m not remotely interested

Same here. I loved smokeless tobacco and was seldom without a load of long cut under my lip. Dental hygienist convinced me that I needed to quit. That was in 1997.

I've known three chewers that got cancer...two got bladder cancer and lived...one got throat cancer and it killed him within 6 months.

Watched my best friend die of lung cancer who smoked, and my mom died of emphysema. Tobacco is bad news...
