I’m looking for a Winchester 1886 extra lite. Not a collectable, rather one of the newer versions. If someone has one or you can point me in the right direction, Id appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I would take a look at the Uberti Hunter Light. I just got one and I really like it. It’s very light. It’s actually a better copy of the original 86 than the Miroku versions since it doesn’t have the abominable safety and rebounding hammer. Mine is really accurate.

I understand, but none of them made now are actually “Winchesters” and the Uberti is the most faithful copy of the original that is now being made.

Last I hear, Miroku is the manufacturing arm of Browning and Winchester.

Neither of which bear any more relation to the original Winchester than Springfield Armory does to the original Springfield Armory.

There is a Miroku/Winchester 1886 45-70 in my safe with a bit of gold on it, but it belongs to a friend and he will not part with it. Both the 1886 rifles that our bullet testing team sent to Africa were Miroku made rifles and they both did well.
The .45-90 took multiple buff, one ele, a leopard , and some plains game. Nary a malfunction or complaint by the shooter. Their performance with premium bullets opened some eyes about what "Cowboy" rifles can do in the hands of a real rifleman.

I have a 1886 Miroku with 26" octagon barrel and a 1 of 500 lettering on the barrel. It has a full length magazine. But it's not a light - 9.5 lb.

I prefer classic.

Understand why you want 1886 EL Elmer Keith was fond of them too.that's why back when Miroku turned out that run of them I snagged one. You sure don't buy them for 995 anymore

Ben,
You still lurkin for 45-90 load information or have found the web sites that have it? I am in the middle of testing 45-90 Express loads and it is getting interesting.

Also check this site -- https://www.realguns.com/articles/4590data.htm

There are others out there, bt these should provide something to look at for now.

When I chronograph my new NF 350 SS N133 loads, I will share them. They are up over 4,000 ft lbs and 2300 fps now. Loading for DR and 1886.
