Got a decent position laid rifle on two aces as shot was looking up to canyon wall. Shot could see the bullet hit high shoulder and buck began a dead run down the canyon and disappeared . It was dark. Waited 15 minutes went to look for him and couldn't find him. Knew hit was good so decided to come back next as temps were in the 30's at night. Next day spent 20 minutes looking for him. I started glassing and saw his tail. We walked with 15 yards of him twice. Hidden in a patch of yucca. CWD really hurt the deer populations in this region so happy with a 4x4 typical 4x4 with a big body.Guessing 260 to 280 lbs far shot to see size of body healthy, lots of fat

CWD hasn't been near the problem of the thinning deer herds there in the Goshen Hole, as the increase in population in Laramie county, the exploding populations of predators, and the proliferation of walk in areas.

Saw one truck at a walk in area on a Saturday. Saw no other vehicles at the walk in areas I drove past during the week. I thought was unusual not hunted more in that area.Spoke to bio in that area and advised that cwd hit the mulies and wt's hard the past few years. Maybe that's why lack of hunters

Certainly no shortage of hunters in the walking here The drought has had some hard affects on the big game But the big increase in predators has been devastating just north of where you were

Fake news. I read here all the time that punching shoulders prevents them from running like they do when lung shot.
