Lots of glassing sand stone, cliff area, sage , bitter brush. . Temps in the 70's so the deer, especially the larger bucks, were holed up in the junipers, bitter brush or bedded up in the steep cliffy areas. Only saw decent bucks at first day light or right when getting dark. bucks. CWD really hit the deer populations in this area of SE WY

sneaking up to cliff edges and peeking over looking for a bedded buck. Saw quite a few bucks doing this but decided to pass on them

last evening with shooting light fading fast. Spotted a decent buck get up and start feeding in the bitter brush about 1000 yards away. Can see area top right in pic edge of canyon top. Rushed down to a wash and walked up as fast as we could and were able to close distance to 400 yards

Got a decent position laid rifle on two aces as shot was looking up to canyon wall. Shot could see the bullet hit high shoulder and buck began a dead run down the canyon and disappeared . It was dark. Waited 15 minutes went to look for him and couldn't find him. Knew hit was good so decided to come back next as temps were in the 30's at night.
Next day spent 20 minutes looking for him. I started glassing and saw his tail. We walked with 15 yards of him twice. Hidden in a patch of yucca.

CWD really hurt the deer populations in this region so happy with a 4x4

typical 4x4 with a big body.Guessing 260 to 280 lbs

CWD hasn't been near the problem of the thinning deer herds there in the Goshen Hole, as the increase in population in Laramie county, the exploding populations of predators, and the proliferation of walk in areas.

the most expensive bullet there is isn't worth a plug nickel if it don't go where its supposed to.
