Haven't seen one here in a month. Feeders are now cleaned and packed away. Miss the little guys already.

They all packed up and moved out a couple of weeks ago.

I left a feeder out for any stragglers that passed through.

See ya next spring lil guyz.

We’ve been seeing one female for the last week or so. Nothing today. I would imagine all the stragglers are going to be taking advantage of the north wind after this cold front came through.

Whistle1: No - not at 5,400' here in SW Montana - last I saw of them was 30 days ago.
Lots of black and white nest robbers though - my 10/22 has accounted for several this fall and hope to thin them out by spring so some other birds can have a chance at nesting/brooding.
The Sandhill Cranes are gathering now in large groups as they feed in the harvested wheat fields - have a special draw tag that is good for two of them but decided on letting them "be" for this year.
They will be leaving very soon for climes to the south.
The Ospreys left for Central America about 30 days ago.
Saw 4 Rooster Pheasants today in my travels while gun chasing and then while doing some Deer scouting.
How about in your area - any Hummers left?

The Coastal Bend (Rockport/Corpus area) prob’ly gets more ruby-throats passing through than anywhere else on account of how many go around rather than across the Gulf of Mexico.

Migration peaks there the middle of September, just a steady trickle by now. San Antonio is dry enough by late summer that your best chance of attracting passing ruby-throats around here is to live along a N-S watercourse.

I’m high and dry so never get big numbers, eight at one time last month was a record. Ain’t seen any for at least a week but will leave the feeder up for stragglers.

The last two years in a row the last individual hummingbirds were cripples. In each case one wing was held crooked at rest and the wing blur on that side had a different shape in flight, in one case obviously so.

I expect these birds were compensating with the good wing.

Highest concentrations of hummingbirds I’ve ever seen was in the Sacramento’ Mts of SE NM in July. Broad tails, rufous and calliope hummingbirds all mountain hop down the Rockies heading south at that season hitting the mt. wildflowers. You could hold the feeder at arm’s length and have twenty all around you.

West Coast is a different scenario, they can get hummingbirds all year round.

I thought all had gone but saw one on the feeder yesterday. He was either a procrastinator or damn brave.
