Just looked online for 270 wsm ammo. Seems ammo in general is getting better to find. But then holy smokes looked for 270 wsm and even what use to be cheaper factory ammo is now 60 bucks for a box of 20. Is the industry getting away from this cartridge or what gives with the pricing?

True inherited a Savage 110 in the cartridge and it has always been a bit of a challenge to buy ammo for. But 3-4 dollars a round is stupid.

No.... don't bother.... you can't get any powder to reload with.

Pay the $60 bucks and plan better for next year.

Scotts308: I was off scouting today for Deer and Elk and went by three shops that sell ammunition - NO 270 WSM ammo to be seen.
I handload for my 270 WSM (Remington 700 LSS) but only have 60 pieces of brass to work with.
NO brass to be seen, nor loaded ammo by me, for many months now.
Ignore slumload - he is on a bizarro-land rant epidemic of late.

A reloader can make it from 300 WSM brass which is more available and cheaper when you can find it.
I've made 270 Win from 30-06 but had to turn the necks a bit.

Not meaning to steal the thread....

Back when the half-breed was prez, 25 wssm was all but impossible to find. I remember some being auctioned at over $5 each.

I would expect ammo to be high right now. We have been in a shortage and it is deer season. People have plans to go out but no ammo. They will pay extra now. I tell people that when we get out of a shortage to buy a few years supplies of ammo or reloading. I have learned that there are shortages every few years. Depending on the person I will let them know it usually is when we have a democrat president. I try not to get caught unprepared. I brought an AR just two days before Sandy Hook. Luckily I did have a supply of .223 for prairie dogs.

I have two brothers that just got started hunting late in life. They started muzzleloader first. They the each got a center fire. One got a .270 and the other a 30.06. I use the 270 win, 270 WSM and the 300 WSM. I had picked up a 30.06 for a rebuilt but decided against it. So I got dies for the 30.06 but have not shot it yet. I told the one with the 270 that I have everything I need for him. The one with the 30.06 I should have everything I need. They had what they need for this fall hunt. But I will see to it that my brothers have what they need.

I remember when the WSM family of cartridges came out and were being praised as God's gift to the world. They now seem to have fallen out of favor yet rounds like the 300 Win Mag are still here. I'll stick with my 30-30 and 30-06 thanks.
Makes me wonder about the 6.5 Creedmoor.

Speaking of the 300 WSM, it filled a hole that really didn't need filling. It makes for a short action but the difference there is almost negligible. My short action 300 WSM is still a pound heavier than my long action 30-06. It fits in the gap between the 30-06 and the 300 WM but it's close enough to the 300 WM that it's a negligible difference. It's a good accurate caliber but it seems to be one that wasn't needed.
