alpinecrick,
“Are you sure the rifles with the M code are not sporter contour?”

100%

I’ve seen/have the catalogs and am aware of the incongruity; Remington? 😳🤷

Yeah, who knows about Remington.......

Seems then Remington began shipping the SS Mtn rifles in 1992 then. If that happened I didn't know that info.

It's a parts group. A barreled action is not a rifle per many years of Campfire etiquette... The subject line is rifle. There's exactly two pieces definitively Mtn Rifle. The barrel and the poly stock and they're mis-matched. The great thing with the 700, long-term parts compatibility. Very likely everything was together besides the stock since the factory. Excellent parts and the price pencils out fairly well....

Where was that wood stock sourced? Too bad "they" don't just do that instead of all the poly crap. Would love to see a mass produced 700 uncheckered BDL walnut or even birch stock offered in the $100 range.

Buy now.

All of this^^^

I agree, the wood stock is not a Remington stock. A previous owner went to the time or expense to do a nice job of fitting an aftermarket wood stock, including a Rem recoil pad.

And yes, it is a uncommon and desirable chambering in a desirable version M700.

Buy now, 7x57 Mtn Rifles don't come along often.

Yes, and P is supposedly June, so it wasn’t like a year end deal. 🧐

Love this place.

Someone buy this already. We'll help you find a correct vintage stock. LOL

RE: Wood. Still don't know where it was sourced. If factory, I would expect it to exactly match the contours of the 78 or a Classic. I'd buy it if I could. LOL

You came into my ad and threw your opinion around. I don’t care what you say or think. And your comment calling me a Jack azz, speaks volumes of your character!

45acp,
You were clear, don’t let the nannies get into your head. They enjoy hearing themselves talk.
I’ll get blasted for sticking my nose in here, most guys here are reasonable and enjoyable, these guys are probably that way in person to.
Just let it roll off your back.

Those stocks may have been made by a Remington vendor, but never came on a Remington rifle, and the link is a sporter bbl channel. Numrich often sourced Remington vendors, probably through Remington. They have been doing that for a couple decades at least. Does your stock have a sporter or Mtn channel in the forend? Can't tell from the photos.

I have seen small details like this end up in flaming threads over the sale right here on the Classifieds. The seller may not appreciate it, but getting the info straight may be saving him a lot more heartache than he thinks he getting currently........

Possibly sporter, just enough room to naturally float the barrel without the need to opening the barrel channel.
