He asked me how I was doin and I said hungry, give me a large stromboli, pointing to the calzones, but no ricotta...I hate ricotta. I was just fuggin with him. He started stuttering in italian lol!!
He said you cant get a calzone without ricotta. I said I told you I want that stromboli, that stromboli has ricotta. That really got him wound up! LMAO He took me aside so other customers could get served and showed me the difference between calzone and stromboli. When he brought the stromboli out he gave me a free peanut butter pie and said I hope you learn today. LMAO!

Nah, seriously. Calzone is just folded over and uses ricotta, stromboli is rolled and uses mozzarella. Calzone has sauce, stromboli no sauce baked in, but they give you(for a large) 3 big dipping sauce containers. Picture a half moon, a calzone. Big ass horseshoe, stromboli.
When I lived up northern PA both were folded over, so maybe its regional thing?
To me a calzone is simply a pizza folded over, toppings inside, with the outside crust edge sealed in a sort of 'hot-pocket' style...
Some pizza restaurants I've ate at had strombolis on the menu but were really calzones and some others that had strombolis on the menu were actually pizza ingredients packed inside a sub bun -- which was a soggy mess to try to eat, too...
