Got to knock off a few Nuisance birds trying to peck on the newly painted Dri-Vit stucco type siding on the house!

The wife was pissed, but I got to shoot a few birds!

Fiocchi 9mm bird shot Rim Fire Ammo, size 6 shot, and size 9 shot, really worked well!

My dad always keep one near the back door to rid the garden of robbers - blackbirds, crows, grondhogs, rabbits, etc……seemed to work pretty good can’t remember the size of shot but he used the original Winchester loads (would love to have those now!!). I have the gun and some of Fiocchi loads but haven’t shot it in decades.

Thanks for the memories though!

One of favorite subjects!
I love 9mm shotgun!
I have 2 Model 36's and a Bernadelli semi auto!
Woodpeckers and chipmunks fear me!
I first found the Fiocchi ammo 16-18 years ago and bought 10 boxes. A few years ago I bought another 6 boxes.
I never want to run short on it!
My Grandpa used to shoot Pheasants, rabbits, and doves out the widow of the car with his 36 when I was a kid........
It's amazing so many people have never heard of or seen one.

I have a Winchester 36 and some ammo. Would it be worth my time and expense to have the metal cleaned and rebelled?

Well, understanding what your asking, these little garden guns were mfg. in 1920-1927, and approx 20,000, were mfg.
They are desirable, collectable and fun to shoot!
With that being said, when available in worn, yet shoot able condition, they usually sell between $400.00-$900.00 US American
Dollars, and as condition improves they can get up their pretty good, $ wise!
Anytime a Firearm is cleaned re blued, it usually de tracts from the Value!
Many Winchester Collectors will tell you to simply lightly clean with a rag and some cleanzoil,
and not to use Steel wool on it!
By Simply wiping it down with an oil rag, you won't hurt the value, or detract from the gun at all.
There's nothing wrong with an honest looking grey, worn, well used gun, that shoots well, and is enjoyable to use,
and Admire! JMO!

Huntershooter58: Good for you on the old-timey shotgun shooting!
I owned one of those bolt action Model 36's way back when but even then (1970'ish) I could not find ammunition for it.
I never did shoot it and sadly sold it for a pittance of profit after a while - yeah I wish I had that one back!
Shoot a Starling for me with it - please.

Yeah! You got it. Was out a few minutes ago, and they wouldn't get close enough!
But two yearlings almost walked into me, until their mother came after them at about 10 feet away,
Stomping her feet at me for about 10 minutes, as I just slowly backed away from them,
they realized I was no threat, and they kept feeding!

When you say the original Ammo, I'm curious to what brand Ammo your implying?
It's very possible your talking about Flobert Ammo, by French man,
Louis-Nicolas Flobert,(1819-1894), who invented the first Rim Fire cartridge,(black powder),
in 1845!
I know Fiocchi makes it today in Italy, and Midway USA, carries it, and
Umarex also made it, from Germany, located in Arkansas.
I'm just curious to what Ammo you have, and how old it is!
The so called 9 mm Flobert Ammo I'm referring to, gets a little hard to come by!
Originally the Ammo available was a Black powder charge, according to George Madis,
Past Winchester Expert. He also States that as many as 25,781 were mfg., which is still a low number,
mfg. in terms of Firearms production. He also states that the shells were available in a 9mm short, and a 9mm long,
loaded with a #9 shot, along with the 9mm Ball Cartridge!
Keeping in mind that this is a Rim Fire Fire Arm!
Winchester did make Rim Fire Ammo also, and I'm thinking maybe that's what you've got,
Which is very collectable, especially in a sealed good conditioned box!
Remington,(the Union Metalic cartridge Co.), also mfg. some!
So I'm interested in seeing some of the Original Ammo, or even Pics of it!

I did forget to add that almost all came with a Gum Wood stock!

Very few came with a Walnut stock, unless they were changed out after wards.

Two more Robbers Down!

I'm liking the #6 shot better, than the #9,& 71/2, or the #7 shot! JMO!

Sorry I missed your reply. Mine are the original Winchester Red Label with black lettering. I do have a photo. I will look for it.

I picked up a Winchester 36 back in the 70's and several boxes of Fiocchi ammo for $100 from a gentleman that brought it back from Columbia....he used it for small birds to do taxidermy.....seamed like a steep price but living in the city it was great for a lost pheasant many squirrels and keeping pests out of the garden.....
