I'm hoping all the time and elbow grease pays off and I get the high gloss finish I'm after on the old 1985 CMC ( Weatherby Vanguard, Howa) action. Getting it blued soon so more pics to follow. The bolt shroud was in great condition so I'm leaving that as is.
I had the same question on the barrel in terms of polishing it.
Next month I’ll finally build my blueing room, and will start polishing and bluing. I’ve been picking up old barrels to practice on a bit before I start doing it for customers.
I’m seriously thinking about getting a Savage 99 to reblue as a work vs. collectors rifle.
All you need now is to send that bolt to Baldwin Bolt Jeweling and let Skip work his magic on the bolt body….that’d really dress it up!
Skip does a fantastic job and his turn around time is quick! Reasonable prices too.
He’s done several bolts for me and to say I’m pleased is an understatement.
Below is a high gloss Ruger M77 MKII I had done just a couple months ago. Really spiffed up that rifle.😁 Also, had him do my Stainless Tikka T3x Superlite…turned out great!
