Very proud of my 15 yr old. We had a great hunt in NM during the youth rifle hunt. Before we went we were trying to decide which rifle to take. We had a 28 Nos and 6.5 PRC ready to go. I was a little concerned about the 142gr LRAB in the prc being too light. It's a new Alamo Precision rifle that I just got and honestly just took it to the range to start the break in process while I got the 28 Nos and my .300 Winmag dialed in to 600 for him. However, the prc shot crazy good right out of the box with the Nosler factory 142gr LRAB bullet. He liked that gun more and felt more comfortable with it so we took it into the field. It worked great. First shot was at 500 and a little back. He followed up with 2 more and finished him. Bullets performed well. We recovered one of the follow up shots and he was super excited. His first elk hunt and he started off with a bang! He got to see a lot of elk and still had some decent bugling activity. Overall a great hunt. That's the 28 Nos in the pic. We decided to carry that in for the recovery in case he got up. We wanted the bigger bullet in that situation. He was laying dead right where we left him.

Great pics right there. Sounds like quite the time! I'd imagine some hard work took place afterwards.

Weather was great, people were great, scenery was great and such a fun hunt.

He drew a rifle tag in the youth draw and we hunted with Ryan and Damon from A3 New Mexico. Great guys and I recommend them highly if anybody needs a guide in NM or AZ. I usually hunt without a guide for myself but put the kids in the Guide draw to help them have better draw odds and to help to have a better hunt experience. I like to embrace the "struggle" and figure things out on my own but for them, I like to give them the best chance of success so that they will continue to want to do it in the future.

Congrats to your boy and man, you taught him to shoot! Great stuff all the way around.

Great report on the 142 Nosler. I hope to find some of them for my PRC.
