With serious snow predicted for the high country, today might be my last chance to fish above 6,000 ft until next spring.
I hit the road early and was launching before daylight.
Some of you saw my thread about finding and cleaning up some 40+ year old lures.
I decided to give those old lures a try.
I was the only boat on the lake, and boated 35+ trout.
Ready for the dawn patrol

The problem with fishing with old lures is that they are more valuable to a collector than they would be for you catching another fish. I've got my step-dad's fathers tackle box and there is stuff in there that I've never seen before. Out charter fishing day in and day out, some lures just caught more fish than others even though they looked identical. Some of our best lures were the floating ones that we picked up that fish had broken off. One year up in Canada, I bought one of those safety pin bass spinner jig combinations and using it was like taking a census of the northerns in the lake. I bought more the next year, but nothing worked as well as that old one.
