Good question.

There's all kinds of old and new Testament prohibitions that God gives against the pagan rituals that Halloween is based upon.

Extortion
Fear of devils
Darkness
Death
Satanism and the occult
Child sacrifices

According to the Bible, you and Wabigoon are smarter than those who despise wisdom and instruction from God's Word.

Proverb 1

It’s unfortunate that the American version of Christianity gives that impression. A right understanding of the Christian faith is that we are free to enjoy all the good things that God has given us. It’s unfortunate that America evangelical and fundamental thought left Christianity behind decades ago and replaced it with varying forms of moralism.

The children are not satanists. Of course kids like to pretend and play dress up. Why must parents refuse to learn what God thinks about it?
Kids are the innocent victims of crimes throughout the ages.
They were burned alive by the evil druids to the demons they worshiped. There's a very sinister foundation to Halloween that parents and grandparents on the forum should be aware of. It is still a serious satanic unholy day celebrated by Satanists, witches, and various occult religions. They take it seriously. Using a cultural practice that parents raised by gt traditions doesn't change that fact. The devil does everything he can to influence the young to change society. Christians should shape society with God's Word and Good News, Not the devil and his followers.

Jesus himself addressed this when he pointed out that John was criticized for living a life of self denial and he Jesus was criticized for drinking and eating. I think Jesus was very social, not self denying, and enjoyed eating and drinking.
Jesus did not celebrate darkness and death. He celebrated light and life.Jesus was certainly not social with the pharisees and sadducees. He made them hate him by telling the Truth. I don't believe you know the Truth. You prove it every time I read a post of yours about faith and the Bible.
Huh?

How many people have been tortured and/or murdered in the name of Christianity?

Here's a half dozen torture methods used by the Spanish Inquisition:

I like to think of Jesus as He lived on earth, as a man. I’ll bet He would have a blast watching His children dress up and walk door to door getting candy. It’s a ritual that unites us in our communities.

And I’ll bet He would sneak all the fun size Butterfingers out of your pillowcase at the end of the night, too.

Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

You make a good point. I've met some Christians whose whole attitude was this. "If you're having fun, you're committing a sin." WTF?I wish I could remember his exact words when President carter came out with hit 55 MPH speed limit. It was, IIRC something to the effect of drivers having fun with their automobiles and the fun coming to a stop. I didn't much care for him anyway and that only made my dislike even greater.
I was dating a girl in high school and we could go out but movies or school dances verboten! They were sinful. She didn't quite go along with mommy and daddy's beliefs. Guess I was damned lucky she didn't get knocked up. Good Christian people. The skipped out on owed rent and grocery bills telling the guy they left the money with me. But they did go to church every Sunday and Wednesday night.

I'm not down on Christian people by any means. I'm a Christian. But I've foregone the pleasure of church, thank you very much. My late wife got me to finally go back. There was one woman who had a reputation of stealing husbands from wives, yet they let her stay. We left when she hit on me right in front of my wife and I told her to F off in no uncertain words. We picked another and between the pastor with his Brooks Brothers sit and multiple Rolex watches, his constant badgering the congregation for money and sermons that left us feeling guilty, we said bye bye church. He was always one who gave you the feeling that if you were enjoying yourself you were sinning.
Halloween? Can't speak for anyone else but when I was a kid it was our day. knock on doors and get free candy, cookies and other goodies. All good clean fun. Never gave any thought to anything but just big a bag of candy we could get before 9PM, out curfew set by our neighborhood. The occult? What was that? We had no idea. FWIW, our time frame was from about 1944 to maybe 1954. At the end I had to go along as escort tp my younger sister.

That's NOT Christianity.

The Inquisition was carried out by a pseudo"christian" sect that called itself THE Church. Jesus wasn't a part of that religion, some of whose officers carried out the torture of millions of peaceful true believers in Christ.
I saw the book describing such torture yesterday.
My friend asked me if I knew what it was. I did because a former friend, before I trusted my Lord, revealed that he was a satanist as I read from his library.
Like you, he also justified his religious views and animosity toward those So-called christians. That doesn't make you a satanist, but you use the same worn out argument to try to paint the Jesus' true followers to be those evil inquisitors of the Dark Ages.

That’s funny as fugk. I have a borderline retard Democrat Obama loving sister-in-law that says the same thing. Equates current, modern Islamic behavior with the inquisition that was how many hundreds of years ago? Lol. They weren’t even Christians they were papists.
