I used to have a few S1 Sighron's but I am down to only one now. I put it on my son's .22LR and it it's doing just fine. I hunted MT the three years I lived there with Sightron scopes.

First impression with the S1 spotting scope is pretty much what Doug said earlier. Glass is ok/good. For what I am wanting to use it for it will serve me very well. For the price of 149.00 it is well worth the price but would have been a bit of a disappointment at full price in my opinion. I have not owned a spotting scope before and have only used someone else’s a few times before so I don’t have a great benchmark. It’s our anniversary this weekend so no shooting but I’m headed out next weekend to a buddies place and will have it in tow.

Doug,

Lobby for Sightron to "go back to basics.". I wish they would make a fixed 4x and 6x as well as a 3-9x AO first focal plane reticle scope with 1 inch tubes, SIII quality glass, have 4" eye relief, use their finger-resettable w/e click adjustment turrents like the Big Sky II (very low height), have an option for heavy plex reticle ( like a #4 or #8), and another with 3 separate 1/2 moa dots spaced 3 MOA apart on both sides of the horizontal and 3 dots (spaced 3 MOA apart) on the lower vertical reticle leg (not tactical "mildots"/milliradian scale, but call them "hunter dots" for Kentucky windage, holdover and range estimation (to utilize the first focal plane feature).

My guess is they would kick Leupold's ass and sell a lot of scopes to hunters.
