Until my wife meant me she had never fired a rifle before. Since she has fired many and even own a .22, 12 gauge, and a .280 Remington. I have even got her to shoot archery and she took a state 3-D triple crown title this year. One thing I have never got her to do is shoot my 30-06, that is until this weekend. I was a little scared it would scare her and make her flinch in the future if it kicked to hard. She shot it with ease and even shot my super light Browning a-Bolt II 300 WSM. She is a small girl so the recoil looked bad, but she took it well and even said that that is what she wants for graduation (except in a Remington 700 SS ADL). I was extremely proud of her and am glad I have a girl I can share the outdoor experiences with.

Shotguns are the best thing I have found for learning to deal with recoil.

Used to think my light 308 kicked. The light 300win was kinda nasty.

Then we got to shooting sporting clays a good bit.
50 or 100 rounds of 12 gauge every week, or more often.
When I sat down behind those rifles to check zero, i barely noticed.

And a lesson was learned that I have taught my daughter's,
The kick doesn't really hurt. Much. You routinely do things that
hurt more. And think nothing of it.

Congratulations! My wife was the same when we met, and now she shoots better than I do, and enjoys hunting as well. There's nothing better than sharing the hunting experience with your spouse!

Funny, recoil is lost when actually pulling the trigger on game animals. But the older I get the more I dislike sighting my ‘06! I know…wah!

My FedEx driver is a tiny little thang that loves to talk about fishing, hunting and her newest gun purchased. Her husband is the man-bun type that hates the outdoors. Everytime she is in the neighborhood she stops by and chats with me for a few minutes. I always ask her if she is ready to leave her husband for a real man yet? Lol, she says she is getting closer and closer to dumping his nonworking ass. I think it would be fun to hang out with a woman that loves to hunt and fish!
