Someone said that the armorer was plinking at the range the day before "shooting the scene."
He had a box of blanks with live ammo mixed in.
On top of that, Alec wasn't even aiming at the other actor.

That's not the information that I've gleaned from dozens of articles about this incident.

Then you have more information than me.
I haven't spent time following this story, but think it ironic that his anti 2A hypocrisy makes him millions on movies of him shooting them.

Just watch, after his lawsuit, I won't be surprised if he uses this shooting to tell politicians that this is one more reason to ban firearms from public use.

The armorer is a female which happens to be Thell Reed's daughter. He is the most famous armorer and has been an instructor of Hollywood actors for more than 50 years.

It was rumored that someone was firing the weapons used on this set the day previous to this incident. There were three guns being used in this film.

There was a cart which had all three guns setting, unattended,on this set.

David Halls,an assistant director, grabbed one of the guns from the cart, walked into the building where he handed the gun to Baldwin while claiming "cold gun".

Baldwin had holstered the gun and was practicing his draw.He had to have drawn the gun, cocked the hammer and then pulled the trigger. He obviously was aiming at the woman as the bullet struck her in her abdomen mortally wounded her.

He neglected to ascertain if the gun was safe therefore abridging the first law of gun safety.

I believe he will be criminally charged.

Thanks for getting me up to speed on that.

I remember when Brandon Lee, Bruce Lee's son, was shot during a scene for the movie, The Crow. I had wondered if this was similar, but it sounds like there's much more to this story that's already come out.

The Brandon Lee story was quite different. In that film they were using a S&W model 629.Someone had fired that weapon with blanks and unknown to the user the wad got stuck in the barrel. When the armorer was preparing the gun for a scene that was to be shot, he had no more blanks,so he removed the bullet and powder from a real round.Unfortunately when the gun was fired the primer caused enough pressure which then pushed the stuck wad from the barrel with adequate velocity to kill Brandon Lee.

That's as much as I remember from that incident.

Brandon was shot with a normal projectile. At some point before the shooting, dummy rounds were used for video close-ups of the pistol. The dummy rounds were normal rounds pulled to dump the powder then projectiles re-seated (ie still live primers). At some stage the trigger was pulled on one and the squib load pushed the bullet into the barrel.

The next shot was the blank that was aimed at Brandon and the stuck projectile exited the barrel.

They didn't know that he had actually been shot. He was supposed to fall forward but fell back instead. They thought that he had hit his head because he was unresponsive. There was no obvious sign of bullet injury (blood etc) and he died fairly quickly thereafter. They noticed that he lost pulse when they realised how serious it was. Don't know when the bullet hole was discovered.
