Right now I have kroil and 3 in 1 oil.
I’ve used hoppes & rem oil in the past. They all work.
Never used grease.

I mostly use a quart of Mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 poured into a small bottle an ounce or two at a time. I don’t trust the small bottles not to leak in my range bags so I keep Rem oil or any similar available oil in a ziplock bag for range use. I use Tetra grease on my bolt action lugs and raceways and sometimes on my 1911 slides. When hunting in sub freezing weather I just wipe the moving parts down with a lightly oiled cloth.

I bought a quart of Mobil 1 synthetic ATF fluid. It does as good or better than anything else I tried in the last six decades.

I use my Harley Davidson engine oil on all things that slide, save my old BAR 338 WM and A5 12ga, AMSOIL has no peer imho, i use Lucas Extreme on the old Browning's.

That’s what CT Brian recommended for guns that are shot.

I’ll go with what the builder says.

Used lithium or "whatever lube" that was handy for longest time w/o a problem. Then gun butter because of its needle like applicator, keep Ballistoil handy , rem oil in the cleaing kit, but what works best seems to be Hornady One Shot, the dry lube,.

I am surprised at how often I run across unlubed guns. Just use something....anything,.

I'm just going to go out to the shop and mix up every lubricant I have (probably 20 different) and hope I'm covered.
This schidts complicated.

Maybe it's so easy it doesn't matter what you use.

If not too cold, dry, or dusty.
This is pretty much true.
Especially if you keep it clean and lubed.

I use Lucas oil. Been working for me a lot of years.

Whatever was on sale when I happened to be in a gun shop..... The one on the left is about 20 years old and still goin' strong.

I really like Ballistol. Still use Remoil on my semi-Auto Shotguns, because I’ve got a lot of it. Occasionally use 3in1 oil if it all that’s handy.
I’ve got a lot of friends that swear by Mobil 1 Synthetic.
I’ll have to give it a try one of these days.

A bottle of Mobil 1 and Synthetic Axle Grease (applied to rails with a thin paint brush) have gone a long way with me for years now.

Mobil 1 synthetic usually. I find it cleans up better. Sort of a hilarious topic in that there are not a lot wrong choices. Show me mountains of guns that have suffered from specific lubes.

I can tell you an instance I had last winter though. Was using 3in1 blue label. Which is the heavier 20W. In a CZ452 22lr. Dropping the hammer on varmints and the oil had become so viscous I got light strikes. Ran great in the summer. I addressed it in the field and back to firing. Low Vis M1 will run well cold and hot. Breeze to clean up on parts.

Despite the adage “If it slides, grease it and if it rotates, oil it.” this isn’t always the case in either examples. Additionally both grease and oil can be used to keep debris out and also cause debris to collect depending on where and how it’s used.
