Thinking about a 9mmAR. Not sure why but thinking about one none the less. My thoughts run two different directions 1) Short barrel (maybe 7-10 range) pistol style with an arm brace 2) 16 inch barrel with a butt stock of some flavor. Next piece of the puzzle is, do I buy/build on a dedicated pistol mag type lower or a standard AR lower with a mag insert? What are the pro's and con's of each. Never been down this path before and not sure what I am getting into so any advise would be helpful. Guess it would help if I said what the use was. Thinking a house gun/ travel gun to be used as a compact unit that is a "just in case the SHTF while traveling" type thing. I am wanting it small enough that it would fit in a backpack or bag that would not scream "hey I have a gun over here". Thinking about it as a "gray man" type of set up if I had to leave my car and start walking.
Thanks

If doing an ar, keep it 5.56/223. If going 9mm pistol with brace.....I would look at a sig or cz micro scorpion. Personally ill take a 223 over a 9mm any day for defensive purposes. Short ARs are loud so hearing pro is a must.

PCCs are certainly entertaining, but be prepared to burn through a bunch of ammo. Not sure they offer much more in "protection" than a pistol, but as I said, they are entertaining. Here is a pretty good rundown on what is popular - https://www.americanfirearms.org/pistol-caliber-carbines/

In looking at the CZ, I came across a Ruger PC Charger 9mm that looks about the same (never looked at either before) Thoughts on either? The Ruger was cheaper at the place I looked by about $100.
One reason I was looking at the AR is I have several Glock 33 round mags on hand, but that is not a deal breaker if the CZ or Ruger is a better mouse trap.

The 9mm is why the double tap was invented.

Lots of aftermarket cz scorpion support. I’d not let 100$ make the decision for me
Most ar pcc have left lots to be desired
Although couple buddies built the new aero pc9 and love them
I’ll stick with my cz

I have a Colt 6951 in 9mm. It is fun to shoot and would be ok but I would rather have a 5.56. Have several other AR’s and the 6.5 Grendel is my favorite. The reason is more injury from the 5.56 over the 9mm and you don’t have to worry which magazine you need to get and a lot more types of ammo available for the 5.56. I think the 5.56 is a better choice.

The 9mm isn't in the same league as the 5.56 or 300Blk but they're still a good option, especially suppressed, and if you can use your pistol ammo/mags IMO. I have a couple 9mm ARs along with a Ruger PC Carbine and Ruger PC Charger. I really like the Ruger 9mms and recently added a Primary Arms ACSS Gemini 2x optic to my PC Charger which made it very capable of hitting out to 150 yards and doable out to 200! Glock 17 mags with +2 extensions give you a very compact 19rd mag or just toss in a couple 32rd Glock mags and you're good to go..... Folds down into nice compact yet still operable configuration.... My Aimpoint red-dot is faster with both eyes open but I really like this PA ACSS reticle for stretching out the 9mm. The reticle isn't canted, just the PC Charger leaning to the side to get a pic. Those white targets are AR500 Prairie Dogs on conveyor belt straps at 100, 150 & 200 yards....VERY fun!!!

What kind of prices are y'all seeing? I have found them for $699, is that good?

My wife has a scorpion and loves it. I had one and sold it.
Friends with the Ruger PC Chargers are loving them, as well.
All in all, the PC Charger takedown is the best motorcycle hard bag option out there, for what that's worth.

Just called the LGS and they took one in yesterday on trade. They say it has the brace and a red dot (not sure what kind as they did not say) and they are asking $900. I found one for sale on a local gun site and they wanted $1300 (which seems really high) but I don't know what bells and whistles can be or have been added to it.

Thanks for the link but I am wanting the pistol not the carbine. I know it is a total different critter but I saw and handled a Roni yesterday for the first time. That might be an option, still thinking about that one
