That was bad was the roof and pillars. Driver was dead.

New cars are flimsy. You can dent them leaning on them.

But they are mostly built right were it matters most.
Seat belt and airbags, a destroyed car still protects the passengers.

I am with you here.

My son wrecked my daughter's Nissan Pathfinder 2 days ago. If I was able to post pics on here I would. The damage was quite extensive. When I first saw the picture, I thought they had flipped it end for end. Buddy that is a retired cop thought the exact same thing.

3 boys, all belted, climbed out and walked away.

I am currently shopping for another car exactly like the one wrecked with airbags all around. It did its job exceedingly well.

Old cars were build so the car might survive. New ones are built so the passengers might survive. In a crash, the safest place to be is inside the car and they're built to keep you there if you use the seat belts. There are always stories about someone who walked away because they were thrown out but the true cases are an extreme minority.

Pickups suck in crashes, compact trucks even more so.

Yikes. I just bought a 2019 Chevy Colorado. I like it but among reviews that weren’t too good were those on the crash tests. I’m going to try very hard to not find out if they are accurate.
