Is it really as bad as this guy makes out?

He has article after article on major shortages of fertilizer as well as huge price hikes.

Same with herbicides.

The price of glyphosate has almost doubled in the last 12 months. I don’t doubt that fertilizer is up at least 10-20%, based on just the small quantities Iget for my yard. Haven’t seen much of a hike on the triclopyr I get for the ranch, but the Velpar seems way up.

Both prices have gone WAY up in the past months since the Brandon administration was installed.

Coincidence?

Shutting everything down for 12 months was a great idea.

Thank a COVTARD.

Get this Hat, organic fertilizer is planned to be outlawed as a carbon emission. Who knows what they will be allowed to get away with, but that's their plans .

I had to pay substantially more this year for hayfield fertilizer. So I rented more pasture to supplement what we own and will try to buy hay next year instead of having my neighbor roll it on our present 50/50 split which includes me using my tractor for raking. With extra land and a lower stocking rate maybe we can get by with cow manure fertilizer. Taking hay off a place strips the soil of nutrients.

True. It leaves weeds that replace grasses.
Manure sure beats NPK for everything, but cost and labor.

Actually you need high stocking rates and short duration moves for the cow fertilizer to really work.

I let the cows spread the manure where they choose, which is often under shade trees where it isn't particularly needed. We drag the pasture every now and then to scatter it. The drag knocks out about 20 feet each swipe and flattens those damnable fire ant mounds. But in any case grazing does not take away nutrients like hay removal.

They do target methane production from non-enteric sources, meaning manure.

A friend of mine works for a seed and fertilizer dealer in Iowa and he says there are going to be some big time shortages this coming spring. Non of this is my accident and it could all be traced to the connection between the democrat party and China.

Thanks.
They are coming after our foods and energy production like an enemy brings embargoes against foreign nations.

You must not have priced it since spring. I paid 750 for Super U or coated Urea at the beginning of October. It's now 900/ton.
I graze as much as possible. I average about 1 800# bale/cow/year.
Only time I fertilize is fall to grow that winter pasture and thats ar a rate of 100# per acre or 46units if it's urea.
A lot of farmers are going to have to take a long hard look at expenses.

PS I paid 435/ton last fall.

I’m in ag as a chem rep and part time farmer and have lots of ties to the business
Chemicals. SOME chemicals are taking substantial price increases mainly any product that contains glyphosate. Some chemicals are in short or allocated supply, mainly Liberty(glufonisate) some generics in the Midwest. There is still plenty of supply to put in a corn and soybean crop most ag businesses have all their tanks full now. The rest of the chemicals have risen 4-8% the shortages are because the tech material has been held up in shipping but also a major tech building plant in India had a fire last spring and wont be back on line til late 22 or early 23. Also the hurricane this past summer shut done plants in the gulf for 30+ days which put some constraints on production especially with Gly
Fertilizer, yes there are some shortages, but here in the states one again the Hurricane flooded and sunk several barges of fertilizer in the gulf
Lastly,,, corn prices are at a high for this time of year and well above last year so when we have high corn price we have high input prices
We have seen these fertilizer price highs before(07 or 08) and shortages before here in the states, but can’t comment on future supply
Profits as he talks,,,, most farmers in this area are going to have, barring a drought which insurance will more than offset a record year next year
Equipment is another story just like autos dealerships are waiting on parts to fill their shelves and used equipment is sky high to buy

I put on ten tons of triple nineteen each year on hay ground and some pastures. Going to take soil samples in a few weeks and come up with a game plan.
Check teeth hard in the spring and reduce herd by about 25 to 35% by this time next year. Expenses doubling and calves staying the same isn't going to cut it. I only have about 50 mommas so its not devastating but I can only imagine what some of the full timers are facing. The row crop farmers are going to face some hard decisions before spring also. I keep telling everyone the country is still running on last years prices in regards to food, you haven't seen nothing yet. It's more than just a few extra dollars for gas in your tank.
