Pretty much anything from IMR4350 all the way to IMR7977.

For a 130gn bullet, H4831 works very well.

Work up loads and slowly increase to within a grain or two of max.

Years ago I used RL22 then switched to 4831 when I couldn't find it. Now I use 4831 in 25-06, 270and 300WM. Burn rate is very close and I got great accuracy from each. RL26 exists, picked up a pound over a year ago and just got great results in my 6.5CM.

A couple I haven't tried on the list. One thing is for sure, it's not hard to get a 270 Win to shoot well with a lot of different powders.

When I first read about it, (I think it was a MD article) I bought about a dozen 1 lb jugs only because I couldn’t find bigger jugs and that was all the dealer had.

It is a combination of great accuracy and high velocity in my 300 Weatherby with 200 grain partitions and with my 300 Win and 220 grain partitions. Both are sub MOA.

I have not tested it on smaller cartridges much. I think I used it in my 280AI and 160+ grain bullets, but don’t remember the details.

It’s not manic powder, but I’m really happy with it in my 300 magnums.

I prefer classic.

For a plain 270 I have used IMR4350, IMR4831, H4831. Ramshot Hunter, Ramshot Magnum, and Rel 26. I have IMR4451 on hand to try, but have not yet.

My standard is 60.0gr H4831 over 130gr bullet. I have GMX, TSX, TTSX, and BT's always loaded up to try in any new to me 270. Going out tomorrow to shoot a donor Kimber Montana 8400 in 270 to see what it does with those four loads. Typically I will find one if not two loads that shoot very good.

Rule of thumb in my various 270's

H4831 and the key is Win primers

130g nosler ballistic tip or accubond-~60g, BARELY touch the lands

140 " " 58g "

Groups are sub half inch in my Rem 700's that are bedded, freefloated, and triggers tweeked.

Same loads for partitions.

Same load for Speer BTSP and HOT core

The best powder for my 270,s is RL23 with 140gr bullets. With 150gr bullets I use MRP unless I,m hunting where it is very cold.

I’ve got good shooting loads in my 270 Win with 130gr bullets using any of IMR-4064, H4350, H4831SC, and RL26.

RL26 produces 100-175 fps more velocity than any other powder. It's "kinda" temp stable, but velocity can be less in cold temps. Alliant makes no claims it is temp stable, but says it will show a progressive, predictable change in velocity as temps get colder. RL26 seems to be bit picky about what rifles/loads are accurate with it. H4831 and H4350 are among the most temp stable powders out there, and were stable even before the "Extreme" designation, and seem to have a better chance at getting accuracy. Alliant claims RL16 is temp stable but with 130g NBT's in two different 270's it lost about 40 fps and both rifles grouped little bit higher, one to the slightly to the left, the other slightly to the right. Not a big change but still a change.

I used imr 4350 for a lot of years then through reading o those using H4831 I had to try it and stuck with it, I use the SC version. If I was unable to get any IMR4350 is what I'd go back to for both 130 and 150gr

For 130's Ive consistently had more luck with IMR4350 in the 55 gr range. H4831 is faster when it works with 130's for me. As far as 150's R23 is my absolute fav. Its not as fast as 26... but always seems easier to find a good load with. It ;ets me save my 26 for the 243's. I aint completely sure you couldnt pur the case full of dried cow manure and not get good groups with a 270.

What kind of number are you getting with R26 and 130"s? I know it is supposed to be "magic" with heavier bullets but have not tried it with 130's.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Alliant online doesn't list any .270 loads with RL26 other than 150 gr. All of those loads are >60gr. What's a max load behind a 130gr? Is this a ball powder or extruded? It seems like it may be difficult to get enough in a case for 130gr bullet(?)
