Never saw one of those - very interesting. An odd use for a Farmall that I remember was in AC when I was a kid. There was a small shed next to the water tower. It contained an H sans wheels, mounted on a stand. Its purpose was to provide power to pump water directly into the mains if some malfunction should drain the water tower.

We had one of these from 1971 to, 1979.

Back in the 1970's and 1980's I worked at an Allis Chalmers shop in Audubon, IA. There was a local welding shop that converted tractors to look very much like that.

They would take an Allis Chalmers WD or WD-45 for starters. Turn the ring gear in the differential 180 degrees, so you had 4 reward speeds and 1 reverse. Then they made a platform facing rearward, flipped the seat backwards and added power steering. Added a BUNCH of weights in front of the radiator, which was now the back end! LOL

They were NOT fun to service! To do a brake job, one had to cut their brackets off the brake rods, then reweld them on afterwards. Plus you had a cobbled up loader to deal with facing backwards on the tractor. NOT fun to work with by any means. But they did work fairly well. Poor man's skid loader of the day I suppose. Don't miss those days.

Once had a cotton picker that was made very much the same way. They took an Allis Chalmers tractor and changed the ring gear like you described and made it into a cotton picker. The heads were wore out so we stripped it down and mounted a water pump to run sprinkler systems.
