Couldn’t be happier with this “classifieds” used 338-06. Broke it in for its maiden voyage in Missouri this year. Nothing to mount, but a decent meat buck. Just glad to try out the new (to me) cartridge and rifle.

Congrats on both your classifieds find and the deer.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Very pleased with the wound channel. Bullet exited behind the shoulder, never striking the actual shoulder blade, but snapped the shoulder blade bone in two, down where in narrows. Never seen that before. Must have been from the shockwave. Very pleased with the effect of the 338 cal bullet.

Nice! Congrats on a nice looking buck.
I've been curious about the 338-06 for a long time, but seem pretty content with my 30-06 at this point, a 180 at 2730 was the choice this year.
Thanks for sharing your success.
I see backstrap steaks in your future!
