Chump change is still MY change and why would I give to that company when there are only about a thousand other companies who will pay ME to use them.

$685 could be used to buy those drinks if you really want them so bad lol

Debt is the herpes of the financial world. And some people want to pay to be given herpes apparently.

And yes I understand how amex works. still a stupid financial move.

I’m pretty sure you have to pay off an AMEX platinum every month. So what exactly are you paying them?

As others have said, the $50 and change per month seems to be well worth it for some of the perks for those who use them

Nope. You are SUPPOSED to pay it off every month. But if you don't they will let you run a balance at interest. Which in English is called a Credit Card.

And if they never got interest it would be tough for them to stay in business. So they expect a certain percentage of people to run a balance.

Of course they do. But it’s not the people with platinum cards. Which is what’s being discussed here

These are companies who know more about your behavior than you do. They spent millions on research and you guys think you're getting one over on them. Lol

AMEX also has the highest 'discount rate' for the merchant and the monies don't hit your account in one day like V/MC sales.

And less so if it’s “platinum”, which is what we are talking about

You don’t seem to be giving people here much credit. I think most of us are aware running a balance on a CC is a poor financial move.

It’s not about getting over… obviously CC companies make their money off that segment of the population.

While I don’t have one, I doubt there are many stupid people using an AMEX platinum

If you do a lot of business travel, it is probably worth it. I got a similar offer in the mail that had a large bonus if you spent $20K in the first couple months. The credit card fee is tax deducible if you have a business so the real cost is somewhat less. I don't travel enough to make it worthwhile for me personally.

Sounds like you have more experience with that subject than you do picking up the dinner and drinks tab for a national sales team.
