It didn't take as long as you would think. Once you know what you are doing and have the tools and work space, the work goes quickly. On this one I took a short cut. The bluing on most of the gun was in great shape, so rather than remove all of it, I just sanded and polished the bad parts and then gave the rest of the gun a quick polish with crocus cloth and reblued over the original S&W bluing.
