My favorite of all time was an old blue my Son named god as a kid (acronym for Good Ole Dog) ... he was the god dog of this farm for sure. He ran the herd and the pack. Greatest healer I've ever owned. He limped over and said goodbye to me on Thanksgiving Day 2014 while I was frying a turkey ... last I ever saw of him. 14 years old, blind with cataracts ... had been kicked and bit and broken so many times I lost count. Only had two teeth left but he was still walking and he would still come over and getting his petting. Heart of a lion. Amazing animal. I remember the day I brought him home as a pup like yesterday ... he fell out of the truck, jumped up and went after a feral cat walking by the barn door like he owned the place.

He chose me ... we chose each other.

I miss that dog.

Thanks for sharing the pics Ed.

Or a leash, and you step on it so he can't jump.

Ignoring them when they do scheidt like that works too. No eye contact, nothing until they sit.

You do have them trained to sit, right wabi?

My fur babies. (Just kidding. That pisses me off just like BGG. I love to blow the minds of the purebred shorthair Facebook city dwellers with pictures of them retrieving dead birds and laying in kennels.)

To train a dog, you first need to be smarter than the dog.

If you are 90 years old and "rural" but don't know how to not break your dog from jumping on you then you open up a lot of questions.

One of the better pics on the fire in weeks, maybe months!

Appreciate it. Very kind-hearted kid and a sweet little dog (when she's sleeping). She's still sweet and friendly when awake, but she's got some super-crazy energy at times. Work in progress!

FWIW, my new pup is 70 lbs at +/- 5 months. And full retard, Happiest retard in the county. Thinks he's a 30lb house dog lol.

Better watch that.

He'll grow on you and you'll start thinking of him as more than a dog. wink

I've had more than a few over the years, and shed a lot of tears and done my due diligence and spent what I could to take care of them.

They're still not kids.

I'm no houndsman that puts a load of high brass #6 into the back of his beagle's head for eating shidt in front of my hunting buddies.

But I don't pretend my dogs are children.

Just pullin' your chain some.

Yeah. That was kind of a swampy corner in a crop field. Not sure if official CRP or just set aside because it was wet.

That’s another great one for the purebred Facebook groups.

“Fi-Fe won’t quit jumping on everybody, she’s so rambunctious, silly girl, any online classes we can take to help solve this?”

“Yeah, kick her in the throat every time she does it and she will stop after the third time”

Minds blown. Think they called the ASPCA on me.

Very nice looking ACDs you have there. Looks a lot like what I have lying in the living room. I've had heelers for many years, great dogs. Nice Bentleys on your dogs, they look good.

Will they retrieve? One of my heelers loved to, fetching raquetballs became the “job” she needed, she bacame an ace at catching them on in the air on the bounce. Retrieving gave me a way of giving her a workout to the point that she would become tired.

I’d make it challenging for her to give her brain a workout, like tossing the ball into tall grass where she would have to methodically search by scent or toss it into moving water where she’d have to anticipate the movement of the current.

Similar size ratio, genders reversed. A nephew’s dogs up in NY state. The little one was one of the pups from the stray dogs I took in. Guess which one is the alpha 🙂
