i have not shot any game yet with Hammer bullets ,i have noticed off the bench these Hammer bullets shoot very accurate . does anyone have any experience shooting game with Hammer bullets and what caliber, bullet grain weight and what cartridge please? i do plan on using Hammer bullets for game fall of 2022 in my 257 Weatherby Mag. thank you , Pete53

Hi Pete, hope all is well. So far I’ve used Hammer bullets in my 308 win with excellent results in accuracy and velocity. I’ve only used the 162 AH and the terminal results on the two deer I’ve shot with them were good. It helps to get on the forum to gain loading info and don’t hesitate to email the owners as they are very helpful in providing loading tips. Make sure you pay attention to recommended barrel twist rate when ordering as it’s important to stabilize (or over stabilize) your bullet for good terminal performance. Good luck!

i will contact Hammer bullets that`s a great ideal , i have also been putting barrels on some of my rifles with the right twist like 1-8 twist for bigger grained bullets. when you shot those 2 deer with your 308 did you get pass thru`s on those 2 deer ? thank you,Pete53

I'm using the .358 220 grain Hammer Hunter in my 35 Whelen. They are very accurate and kill deer with authority. My rifle has a10 twist

Been thinking about trying them myself but have not as of yet. From what I have seen others post, it appears that you may need a faster twist than what would be standard for a typical bullet of the same weight. I am not sure why but that is what I have seen posted by others.

The 220 grain Hammer Hunter that I am using calls for a 1 in 15 twist rate or faster

my new 257 Weatherby mag rifle barrel is 1-71/2 twist my old 257 Weatherby mag rifle barrels are 1-10 twist. i also have 2 new barrels on a couple of 257 Roberts that are 1-71/2 twist and they really shoot well with heavier grained bullets. don`t know yet about the 257 Weatherby mag, yet ? i just know after 2 falls 2020 and 2021 Berger bullets shooting out of my 257 Weatherby mag. shoot excellent on paper but do not preform well shooting deer with the speed a Weatherby mag. produces, that`s why i hope these Hammer bullets are what i am looking for. i have used Nosler partitions and Swift A-Frames these 2 bullets shot well and have preformed well on bigger deer but now its almost impossible to buy these 2 brands of bullets ,but Hammer bullets seem much easier to buy maybe its because you buy them direct ?

I have a 257 WBY mag and have been using 100 gr TTSX bullets on whitetail deer with great results. I was afraid to try a cup and core bullet at the speeds I am getting. If I were looking for another fast lighter bullet, the hammers would for sure get a looking at.

I took 3 whitetails this year with a 124gr Hammer Hunter bullet launched from a 6.5 PRC at 3,250 ft/sec. Buck at 100yds dropped to the shot and never moved. Doe at 230yds also dropped to the shot. 2nd doe shot at 240 yds took off. Bullet hit mid chest and angled down exiting through the heart. Exit hole was 15." or so. Blood was everywhere as the doe ran. She got about 100yds through the woods but was easy to follow. I have no idea how that doe got that far but it sure wasn't because of bullet failure.

Hammer bullets are a great option and another good tool in the arsenal. They aren't cheap but they work as claimed.

Have used them several years now in my 260 Rem. Used the 117 Sledgehammer and the 110 Hammer hunters. My gun does not like to be pushed hard so I keep velocities lower than a lot of guys. The 117 were at 2700 fps, but they were very accurate. Shot maybe half a dozen with those, no problems or complaints. This yr I used the 110's (at 3000 fps) and opening day filled al 3 of my doe tags with them. First deer hit low and broke offside leg. She stumbled downhill and left a huge blood trail. Second one I shot in the neck as she faced away at 40 yards trying to figure out what happened to the other. Then maybe 60 or 70 yards was another trying to figure out the commotion. This one impressed me. I hit back plenty far, she ran maybe 40 Yards and went down. With where I hit her I would have expected a 100 yard + run. I figure one of the petals did enough damage in the lung area to bring her down quickly. All 3 were in the 45 lb meat range, so whatever that makes them. I think all 3 were last year's deer, all doe. The thing I like about them is the lack of blood shot meat/ huge exit holes. I have never had a deer run more than maybe 40 yards with my 260 and hammer bullets. A bit pricy, but in my experience they are simple to get to shoot pretty accurately. I did try some 140 grain absolute Hammers in my 280 Ai and those were lasers, shooting 3380 fps. Never shot anything with them, but should be very effective. I have a 30-06 I am thinking of switching over to the 124 Hammers. A 124 at 3200+ fps should be an effective 500 yard deer gun!

Edit to add: with the price of Nosler partitions creeping up close to the same price point that hammers are, it is a no brainer for me to purchase Hammers.

A buddy of mine has been shooting 180 HH's in a 300 Win Mag and dropped a cow elk this fall at a little over 600 yards - he was very impressed with the results. I have some 140 HH's I'm getting ready to start loading in 1:9 270 Win...
