Gets down to personal preference (ergonomics, size). My current pocket carry is a Kahr CW 40 in a CCW breakaway pocket holster. The CW40 and CW9 are the same size. They make one smaller - CM9.

No matter what you choose, seriously consider the CCW pocket holster (it's the most unobtrusive, easy to draw pocket holster I've found. https://ccwbreakaways.com/skintight-holster/

I recommend a small 9mm over a 380. You can buy downloaded 9mm, but not uploaded 380.

That is my view also. Applies to both the Kahr and the original LCP.
Ditto...

And now there's a ton of truly compact, slim 9mms out there to choose from.. I use the Kahr only in certain instances.. Daily carry in this area is usually a Kahr PM-9.. The closer I get to the MN border, the larger capacity items get the nod.....and then the bore size goes up from there.. laugh laugh

LCP will fit places no nine will.
I have had the smallest lightest 9 made and a LCP. I still own the LCP and a newer compact nine I like, much better

I sit here with my SIG P220 pocket carry. Spare 10 rd 45 auto magazine in the left pocket. I'm kind of used to it. Be Well, RZ.

I'd rather the first version. Trigger is not near as good, but you don't need a holster

We have a couple of them in the 22 version for pocket or ankle carry, as a back-up carry! Pretty happy with them, though we do have an occasional “fail to feed”! Internet rumor suggests that it’s a magazine issue! We have 6 magazines, a couple are flawless while the others do occasionally “FTF”!

My only real complaint is the sights in poor light.....simply can’t see’m! I painted ours with model airplane epoxy paint....front is bright yellow, rear is white. Amazing improvement! memtb

I carried an LCP in my pocket for years and it worked well. The Sig P365 is small enough for pocket carry and allows you step up to 9mm.

Can you even carry a gun in New York, or is that why you're looking for the smallest one possible? grin

Actually, Underwood offers a few different 380 +P loads. I don't know if anyone else does...maybe Buffalo Bore?

Yeah, I like my original LCP, also. The II seems like a completely different pistol, and larger.

Yep. I own both. Prefer the old model.

I carry the Buffalo Bore Hardcast loading in my Ruger LCP.

I figure in a .380, penetration is better than a HP bullet that’s probably not gonna expand much.

Agreed but it’s still not near as small as ether e LCP or LCP II
If I’m going to carry something as big as the Glock 42,then I’m gonna go with my Sig 365.

I’ve carried the original LCP 380 for years as my BUG
Also own a LCP II 380 and another in .22 LR.
They have all been uber reliable and plenty accurate once you learn how to shoot them.
If I’m setting around the house at night in my gym shorts, the LCP II is in my pocket. It great for varmints or snakes if I need to step outside and carry out the trash or piss off the porch.

I will add that some Gun Company out there is still producing the tiny SeeCamp Auto. In a .380 version. The original models were in 32 acp.
Anyhow, looked at one at my LGS the other day. It’s noticeably smaller than any of my Ruger LCP models. But definitely heavier. Haven’t had a chance to research their reliability yet.
The price was definitely more than other comparable.380’s at $589. 😳

The .380 Seecamp is a handful, the new ones are not made as well as the older ones made by Larry Seecamp. He had his hands on every one made.

The new ones have trouble with slides flying off when firing them (might be a feature).

I have an older LWS-32, it's a nice pocket gun but quirky to take down. Also, the approved list of ammo for the Seecamp is almost impossible to find.

The big difference(to me) in carrying a 365 or G42 its weight, the 365 is almost a 7 ounces heavier. I have both, and can tell the difference.

Not everyone can handle a micro 9 as well as a G42 due to hand strength or other issues. At over 70, my hands and wrists have taken a beating over the years.

Thanks JB. I was kinda interested in the SeeCamp 380 until I read your post.

Big difference between an LCP and any micro 9 for concealed carry
I have an LCP Custom (most carried gun I own) and a EC9S (one of the smallest, if not the smallest 9mm) you can tell the difference.
Here’s a good link to compare the sizes of some handguns

I have the original LCP as well.
Have had it since the first year they came out.
It is a "carry when you can't carry a gun at all" gun.
I thought about the 10 shot LCP, but I like my gun so well that I just bought a couple of the Ruger 7 round LCP mags and called it good.
That gives me 7+1 on board.

As for Kahr guns, I've had several of the 9mm guns, and they are excellent carry guns, but the PM9 or CM9 will still be much larger and heavier than a LCP.
A couple of years ago I decided I wanted a gun that was a little nicer than the LCP as my everyday gun.
Even though I knew that the Kahr .380 guns had a much spottier reputation than the 9mm guns, I decided to try one.

Mine would seldom feed more than one magazine without a failure to feed or eject.
After two trips to the factory, I sold it at a loss.
.380 ammo was already getting scarce because of the riots.
If I could have tried a dozen different brands maybe I could have found something that the little Kahr liked, but since my ammo supply was limited I let it go.
The fact that it would not feed fmj ammo was a bad sign.

My LCP has fired everything, except Wolf steel cased .380s.
It's a keeper.

I like the Beretta Pico for a small pocket 380 pistol. They are only 3/4” thick and very light. I gave one to my daughter for edc.

I’ve carried an original LCP for many years now. If there is a more perfect pocket pistol, I am unaware of it.
