What scope would you recommend for this rifle?
Christensen 7mm Mag Ridgeline (26" barrel) in a Mesa Altitude stock with intended use of backpack sheep hunting
Right now I have a Swaro Z6 2.5-15x44 on there....I like it, but am wondering if something else might be better. I prefer using the reticle vs. dialing
(I'm not interested in an ultralight Forbes, Fieldcraft, Kimber, etc. with a Leupold 2-7 or NF 2-10 on there.....I know lots of folks like to go that route, but I am set on the above rifle, so no need for those kinds of replies. Have been sheep hunting before and carried a 9# rifle and 80# pack for 12+ miles in one afternoon so I don't need a lecture on weight, etc.)
TIA

I can't see where what you have now needs improvement! But then, I have not chased sheep in the high country. If the optics on the Z6 work for you in the lighting you expect to find yourself in, then carry on and buy/load more ammo for practice!

In what way(s) do you want it to be better than your swaro Z6? Presumably it’s optically excellent; you don’t dial so that eliminates tracking, so... what’s the goal here?
Mountain rifles are where the rubber meets the road because there’s usually that premium put on scope weight. For what it’s worth- not much- the two rifles I own that can be called MR’s, both have pretty heavy scopes on them. The scope seems, to me, to be the last place to go looking for weight savings.
The CENTER will hold.

Can't make myself call a 26" barreled anything a "mountain" rifle, but for that gun, since you don't want something smaller, then what you've got is as good as anything else.
Unless, of course, you might want a 56mm SuperScope of some sort to allow a little more light early & late on that "mountain" rifle.
YMMV

Are you asking for a light, quality scope with a BDC or mil dot reticle?
If so, the Accupoint is a solid choice.

Any FFP ranging scope in an adequate power... if wanting to try something a little newer tech, then this Sig Sauer from Camera Land might be of interest without breaking the bank! Link"Checkout the videos" Phil

You aren’t going to find anything better at similar weight. My mountain rifles wear Z6’s too. I haven’t had any problems but people do seem to question their dialing and durability. To address that issue, you are going to need to accept another 8+ ounces. Which is too bad but that’s the reality.

If you are a Swaro guy and dont dial then why not a Z3 3-10 ? Lightweight and proven scope. Can pick them up in mint shape for around $700.

What would you change about the Z6? Maybe start there.
