I have for sale an unfired 11-87 Special Purpose shotgun. It has a factory 20in smooth bore and threaded for Rem Chokes, with a rifled slug choke installed. The factory barrel has a cantilever and I am including a set of rings for this barrel.

The gun also I includes a new Hastings rifled slug barrel. It also has a cantilever and is 24 inches long. I was going to use the short barrel for turkey hunting, as I love the short barrel for use in a blind.

I bought it unfired, and have never even taken it out myself.

The original owner took it to his smith, right after purchase, and had him install a mercury recoil reducer in the butt stock. This is a three inch gun, band he was not big on the anticipated recoil!

Anyway, I'm selling for $900 shipped, for the shotgun and the Hastings slug barrel. These barrels are $350 alone.

Not willing to split it up, nor am I looking for any trades at this time.

First "I'll take it" followed by a pm gets it.

Hell of a buy.

Walnut furniture too.

I am guessing early 90s manufacture.

I have the 870 version and they were late 80’s or early 90’s. They are nice shotguns from when Remington was still putting out a quality firearm. Good deal here.

^^^^this comment couldn't be further from the truth. That Special Purpose finish was and is the sorriest damn finish ever put on a shotgun. That was nothing more than Remington cutting corners and trying to steal a dollar. Theres nothing quality about that finish.

Completely different than the newer finish or Express finishes.

That's for sure. The Express finish is worse than having bare metal 🤣

The barrel on it as shown was a factory offering that way? Do you have the box? Could you send a pic of the barrel?

This isn't the rough Express finish. It's more of a light matte finish.

I agree. I have this same gun but with a 26 inch barrel. The finish is fitting for a "Special Purpose" shotgun and FAR different than an Express. These were pretty good old shotguns!

1187 Premier or LC was gloss finish all around.

Special Purpose was machined, milled, just like the Premier; it was left as matte finish for hunters.

The Express models weren’t finished out to the same degree as the Premier or Special Purpose.

That is what I know of it. I own both the Premier and Special Purpose. They both function flawlessly. I use the SP 10x more than the Premier.
