Not BSing. Who?

A song comes on the radio & it's Hendrix, voted no. 1 in several ratings. Or ya think it is, as the only other player likely to confuse will be SRV.

I could link; The famous "sound check" that blows away all critics. But this is one of my favs as just a watcher & listener.

Clapron’s “Blackie” Strat brought over $2 Million, I think, 15 or 20 years ago.
No telling what SRV’s # 1 Strat would bring. His brother Jimmie owns it. Told me he would NEVER sell it.
I’ve noticed he’s sold a lot of the rights to SRV’s music to be used in TV commercials. So ya never know.

If it went to an Auction House, I bet the bidding would start at $5 Million or more. No telling what it would bring.

I got to look at it once. It is litterly beat to hell.

His other famed Strat, “Lenny” which he wrote that song on, both of which were named after his wife, Lenora, was sold by Jimmie through Christi’e’s Auction House for $623K, in 2004.
It was also the Strat he had Baseball Legend Mickey Mantle Autograph at a MLB Game where SRV played The Star Spangled Banner On it for the crowd.
I got to look at it once too. It had been refinished and “customized” and is in much better shape than his famous #1 Strat.

Here’s an article with the story on his “Lenny” Strat:

There are a lot of players like that who lived with the instrument in their hands and became astonishingly good within their genre. You can't compare directly to pick a best.

The most impressive electric guitarist I ever saw live was Junior Brown. When he got going fast I couldn't see his hands.

I’ve seen both live multiple times. Junior Brown is very good at what he does. But he’s no SRV. Not by a long shot.

SRV was great. There are other greats too with different playing styles.

My favorite memory of a guitarist was Ted Nugent playing at Cal Jam 2….Sun was setting in the west…nice breeze blowing inland… previous band had left the stage about 5 minutes earlier and all of a sudden the opening riff of stranglehold starts… I look up to the stage and there’s Ted…wailing away….. on top of one of the giant speakers with his hair blowing forward covering his face….it was surreal…
