Took my grand daughter deer hunting on our CRP ground at the farm and she got her first ever deer. A decent 8 point, weighed 188.6 pounds. I was old enough to vote before I ever got one as good. The weapon she insisted on was my right hand Weatherby Vanguard2 in .223. Couldn't convince her to use her Dad's left hand .308 that I loaded down for her. She shoots left hand and said all she needed was one shot. Wrecked his lungs and put a crease in his heart with a handload 62 grain Hornady HPBT hunting bullet bought in bulk from Midsouth a year or two ago.
Needless to say she is elated and I'm afraid her parents are going to be hit up for a left hand .223. I am trying my best to put up a picture. Yes I'm bragging.

Conservation Reserve Program which is a USDA boondoggle waste of money. They have paid me about $30 per acre per year to put it into wildlife habitat. I was going to do it anyway but now I've been paid for 23 years and collected more than that 25 acres cost me. We can hunt on it or lease it out and when this program expires or I don't re-up the deal I can cut and sell the trees.
They have WRP Wetlands Reserve Program in which you basically put the trees in and never get out of the program and never cut the trees. In that deal basically all you can do anymore is hunt it yourself or lease to hunters. I guess you could birdwatch or maybe camp on it. You can lease oil rights but I am told they have to directional drill from an adjoining property.
