I like them by themselves as a side or chunked up and put into homemade soups.

Lots of good options here. Thanks.

I hope you guys that hate them don’t take offense if I ignore your suggestions.

We’re going to try them mashed, and in a pot roast. Of course the pasty suggestion will have to happen also.

Very good roasted with other winter root vegetables (parsnips, turnip, etc.). Skin, quarter, toss in olive oil and put in a hot oven with aromatics/seasonings of your choice.

Cut in 1/2 inch or so chunks, boiled lightly.

Salt, pepper and butter if you insist.

Some spelling errors can be corrected by a vowel movement.

We mashed some, and roasted some. My wife liked the mashed, the roasted not so much.
I think using them in a pot roast and in pasties is going to be this week’s mission.
Thanks for the suggestions folks, I appreciate it.

I just made Jamaican pasties with deer. I’ll have to try adding some rutabaga

[bleep] all that - Rutabaga or ‘waxed turnip’ are great. I’ll include them in any melange of roasted root vegetables. Can be boiled in with and whipped together with potatoes (maybe 2 to 1 potato to rutabaga, by weight) for a great twist on whipped potatoes. I particularly like them cubed up and incorporated into beef or venison stews. CRITICAL component in my Irish boiled dinner.

On that note, that’s prob where they shine the brightest - the boiled dinner. Try that straight away. Doesn’t need to be St. Paddy’s day to enjoy a killer Boiled dinner. Corned beef, onion, carrot, cabbage, rutabaga, potato, broth.
