Awesome, congratulations. Ramblin' Man was a stud.... there is more Hall of Fame dogs in his pedigree than not I think. His lineage is in both of my current labradors if I recall. Enjoy your dog.... its going to be a great journey!

Lee said yesterday was the first time out side.
She said Fin was " very confident, and adventurous. Had to run him down."
Hoping I'm NOT getting a high powered field trial dog......

Finn's 1st duck.
9 weeks old, sits when told to, comes when called, and potty training is going well.
Have had him 10 days now, and doing great.
Shook the duck, dragged it, pulled feathers, and licked at a pellet hole in the breast.
He's going to make a fine waterfowl dog.

Our Labrador pup is coming along nicely too. He has lots of drive and enthusiasm for retrieving. We will soon be incorporating discipline with the retrieving lessons. We have been getting him familiar with the boat, and working him in new locations as well. So far, he doesn’t care where he is or what the conditions are. He just wants to retrieve.

Finn is now 16 weeks old, and weighing in at a solid 42.0 pounds.
He's going to be alot like his uncle Trap.
Basic commands with hand, voice, and whistle are going great.
Doing an Al Bundee after his 1st trip to the pond.

The local reservoir pond is pretty iced over, but the edge had some open water. Went right in like he'd done it before !

Thanks guys.
He's shaping up just fine already for being a 4 month old.
He's not Trap, but is showing some personalities, and traits, of Trap, because of the lineage.
Now to get him freaking out on real birds !!
Here's getting lovin from mom.

Worked him some yesterday.
The healing, on and off the leash is going great.
Got a dove out the freezer. Thawed it, and did some retrieving.
He would heal, but break when thrown. Stay isn't understood too well yet !!

He did bring it back to heal, hold, and deliver to hand !
I was so proud !!
I guess buying an awesome pedigree, this may come from the genes passed on ?
Bought a folding, 6 foot dog ramp off FB yesterday. He doesn't get car sick, and remembers picking him up in the semi.
At close to a hunert pounds when full grown. I'm not gonna lift him in and out.
Laid the ramp on the side step, just below the door, and up he ran, and back out and down, and back again. Just like he had done it a thousand times already !
He's a very smart boy !!

You can use a short lead at the line, take up the slack and step on it, keep repeating sit when he calms down let him go, remember calm voice don't use excitable voice ggod luck

Lol, you saw the pedigree.... He is going to have a ton of energy most likely. if you dont get that energy out of him, the chewing and puppy stage will last forever. Enjoy that dog!

That dog looks great. What a fun time.

I took my current dog, about the same age as yours, to a traininer. I have never had a professionally trained bird dog and want to try it once. He has been there two weeks, with likely a 4 month stay. Its pretty quiet and empty in the house while he is gone. My 4 year old lab misses him and has an abundance of energy without the young guy to play with. When the young guy was here, the 4 year old was trying to get away from him more often then not, but he misses him now.

He's actually pretty mellow.
He does have his moments.
Took him out to a pond we hunt at the other day.
Sure like how a yeller dog blends in.

Out yesterday, and he had a ball running around, and chewing sticks. Just had to lay in the snow !
Wife was a ways away, and he would run over to check on her, and I'd just toot on the whistle, and he'd come running back to me. He's got that whistle command down pat !
I have a friend who trains dogs near me.
Finn will go visit for a time.
