My brother shot a couple white tail at 200+ yards earlier with his Marlin 30-30. His wore a scope and he was shooting Winchester silver tip bullets - don’t know the load.

I took my waffle top 30-30 with 170 grain CL bullets and H335 powder out to the range and sighted it in at 150 yards. (I still have some tags to fill.)
I have a steel Lyman aperture sight and factory front sight. It shot just under 1MOA. That front sight covers a lot of target. I used to have a 6 o’clock hold, but not now.
I’ve used this rifle and a Winchester 94 in 32 Special for lever action silhouette. But I’ve never had this one out for white tail.

I prefer classic.

1 moa with that set up is very good. I have a couple I keep to around 2 moa at 100 yards and under but can't touch 1 moa unless I use the scoped 444 , it's a shooter.

My 32 special will also do 1 moa. I have a Lyman 66 receiver sight and went to a green fiber optic for extra height and visibility in low light.

1 moa at 150 is great shooting with aperture and post sights! Sounds like you found a great load that it likes.

Unfortunately all we found on the last trip was loads and loads of bucks. The only does we saw were on the way out or on the way back. Not during legal shooting times. Of course we only had doe tags. I still have a buck tag for WY. But my back went out and I’ll be having surgery on my back 2/1/22.
Hopefully I’ll be up and running next year.
