S&W came out with a new cartridge called the 30 Super Carry. I can't find any official announcement but it appears to be a straight wall case and will be chambered in the Shield EZ. Great! They can't even keep up with demand in the current popular cartridges, so they come up with another one.

100gr bullet at 1200 fps. Should offer added mag capacity in a micro compact with reasonable ballistics for self defense. To me it only makes sense in super concealable platforms.

Crazy to debut anything new in this climate. Make a semi-adequate paper weight if you can’t find ammo.

Is it a .30 caliber?

Looks like a stretched and plussed-up 32 auto.

Mousegun on steroids.

100gr - 1350 fps
115gr - 1160 fps

max operating pressure - 50,000 psi....yikes!

10 + 1 in the 380 EZ platform.

I don't know...just saw those details here:

I’m sure it fills a niche for someone, but doesn’t fill any need I have. Not when you can get 14 rds of 9mm in a micro compact platform.

I don't know what S&W is thinking these days. They'd do better to refine the EZ line in other ways IMO. The calibers already offered were not the problem.

Well there used to be posts here about the 9mm doing the same thing as a 45 ACP; stands to reason the 30 can be tasked to do the same thing with better bullet behavior inside average scenarios from higher impact speeds and increased SD, with greater hit probability due to less recoil and the ability to house more rounds in like weapons for large group attacks without the need to reload.

I don't see the need but they did not ask me. I see this being about like the Ruger 327

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Reminds me of the .25 NAA, created by North American Arms. It's a .32 ACP necked down to .25 caliber, resulting in a bottleneck case.

Now that I think of it, it's not a bad idea. No telling if it takes off, but pretty good thinking.

Good point. Ever touch off a handgun chambered in .30 Carbine? Talk about a fireball.

Sounds a little closer to the .32 NAA, the .380 necked to .32- another one for which ammo is readily available.😏

How does that compare to the .30 Tokarev, or .30 Luger, for that matter? It might be "fun" to fool with, but probably not...........................

It doesn't appear to be a bottleneck cartridge.

Nope. That's where the similarity ends.
