I’m trying to match a scope to an old browning 22. I’m wondering if there’s such a thing as a quality 3/4 tube scope, either made today or ever? There are some online reviews of Gru-bee scopes but since they never mention country of origin, I assume it’s Chinese. If my only option is Chinese, I’ll go without. I remember decades ago having some cheap 3/4 scopes that would never hold zero. These were $9.99 Walmart specials. My question is—is there anything better out there that I should be searching for or do I accept that anything 3/4” is going to be pretty cheap?

Redfield used to make a wonderful little 3/4" tubed 4x, I gave one to my ex-FinL for Christmas one year, wish I would have kept it.

Update.

I read the reviews on the little Wolf Pup scope by GruBee as you have stated I'd be a little leary, most of the reviews were pretty good, at least one person didn't receive one after ordering but USPS tracking showed it as being delivered. The dealer is based in Oklahoma but and says he imports Chinese goods so he isn't trying to lie about the origins.. I don't like to use ebay and they are no longer available on Amazon. I use Amazon Prime a lot for stuff as I can send it back on their dime if it is faulty.

I'm interested in where this goes as my fiirst 22 is sitting in the safe with a broken 3/4" tube scope in a Weaver sheet metal side mount as it was never D&T so finding a mount might be harder than a scope.

It does seem that Redfield or the Browning-badged Redfield is about the best out there. I’m surprised there aren’t more options. Those Redfields go for $400+ used.

I have 2 of those Redfield 3/4 4x scopes, one on a 1948 Marlin 39a and one on a 1977 Ruger Deluxe 10/22
wonderful scopes even with these 66 year old eyes.

The Weaver J2.5 and J4 were designed for center fire rifles. They are very decent. Much better than any of the weaver rimfires of the same vintage.

I saw that…not familiar with the company. Have you ever dealt with them? They certainly have some options, although $$$

These are the best 3/4" scopes you'll find for a .22 rimfire rifle, but the scarcity and demand means you'll need to step up and pay to obtain one.

It sure wasn't the '60's vintage Weaver C4 rimfire scopes that a buddy and I had on our Mossberg 640K Chucksters. When we wanted to go varmint shooting on any Saturday, we'd have to go to the range first to sight in each time. And don't bump it putting it into the gun case. An early lesson learned, any scope isn't always a good scope.

I’ve not dealt with them, but have done business several time with these loonies.

I have one with the Browning label that I am not using. I would consider letting it go. Sounds perfect for the OP's project.
PM with offer if interested.

Cheers,
