I’d buy one in a Shield. I always liked the 32 H&R mag in a six shot j frame. 50k is up there though.

Looks like a fun round to play with as a range toy and/or varmint/ small game gun; but I'll bet it has an earsplitting muzzle blast like the .22 mag and 30 carbine but on steroids.

Ja, that 30 carbine is a loud one in a revolver.

I'm interested. Like others have already mentioned the .30 SC should fall just under a .327 Mag. The latter is easy enough to fire in an LCR, so the .30 SC should also be reasonable. Some of the info out there shows twelve .30 SC's using the same length magazine as ten 9mm's.

That might turn a M&P Compact or G19 from 15 to 18 rounds.

Forgive me my nonsense, as I also forgive the nonsense of those that think they talk sense.

Imagine the LCP Max in this caliber. Likely 13 rounds in a flush mag.

I'd like to see the FBI protocol tests too.

I'm trying to imagine a 50k PSI round out of a 2.75" barrel. Muzzle blast would have to be significant.

I noticed the dude in the vid opted the full size 1911 with 5" barrel for the promotional vid.

It will also be interesting to see chrono results from different barrel lengths.

I don't even like the LCP Max in .380 using my weak handloads! I can't imagine that.

That’s the direction I see them going, but perhaps not quite that small…but who knows? No doubt the engineers see this cartridge as an opportunity to make a pistol smaller and lighter. The market seems very focused on the weight, dimensional spec’s, and capacity of carry guns these days. So I see this as a way to win the spec’s game while maintaining an acceptable power level, and perhaps increasing magazine capacity…Or at least that’s where my brain goes.

Or in more simple terms... Let's make a new thing we can sell.

It seems the cartridge has the same OAL as the 9mm, so I doubt it would fit in the LCP Max.

I like the 32H&R in a snubby Smith, this looks like the same ballistics in a semi auto.
I wonder if we'll see ammo for it before we get components for everything we already have...

Damn! That's true. Well, the LC9 Max, then.

.30 Carbine - is a carbine round, designed for carbine length Bbl's.

One would expect slower powder and a lot of excitement at the muzzle of a short(er) Bbl..

Not necessarily.

IF - the design was intended for short Bbl. performance, the excessive pressure may be the result of an extremely fast powder, and be insignificant at the muzzle.

Ok, I geeked-out a little here.

Using Quickload, I used the 32 S&W Long case, loaded it with a 115gr Gold Dot, set OAL to 1.169 to mimick the 30 SC useable case volume.

5.9gr of Power Pistol came up to just under 50K psi.

Here are velocity/muzzle pressure predictions:

3" bbl - 1222 fps - 12,051 lbs/psi
4" bbl - 1313 fps - 8,518 lbs/psi
5" bbl - 1375 fps - 6,513 lbs/psi

Baseline QL comparison - 9mm +P 115gr Gold Dot, 7.8gr Power Pistol, 37,714 lbs psi max pressure.
4" bbl - 1368 fps - 8,059 lbs/psi
