What’s the largest contour that will fit in a classic? Have a bunch of them but the biggest thing I’ve ran was a Rem. Mag sporter.

I'm not sure what the largest would be. But here is a Hart (ADL/BDL contour). It's .680 at the muzzle. image share site

Thanks KY, that’s probably the same/similar to the Rem. Mag sporter. Wondering if a sendero’esque profile will fit.

I've done a few with #3 contours which is a good combo . A #4 word also work well.

Is the Rem Mag Sporter what LVSFs use? If so, I've had a couple LVSFs and this is certainly a bit heavier. Not by a whole lot though.

For a short action - a Sendero barrel will fit but it does max it out flats. A friend had a Pac-Nor sendero contour turned 20 thousandths under spec and I thought thought was a perfect max for the classic.

I had a Savage smokeless 50 cal muzzleloader in an ADL classic (no ramrod inlet). It was MAXED and really too big of a barrel but it worked and I liked the setup. I'd not run that big of a barrel in a standard centerfire but with the big hole in the barrel it worked fine for balance.

A Sendero profile will fit. There’s not a whole lot of room to spare.

Rem Varmint is max, but not ideal if you don't have to go that heavy.

I have seen them with a Rem Varmint/Sendero jammed in, but it definitely was overstuffed.
A #5 is where that stock maxxes out. You might push that a smidge, but if you do, keep an eye on shank length.
#5 is your answer, within conventional bounds.

I’ve had a 20” Sendero profile and the above pictured 16” in a Classic but wouldn’t go any longer. The 16” balances very well in that handle.

Thanks for all the input. Hangunnr, I have a similar set up except I switched out a sporter contour barrel off a model Seven and put it in a faux Ti with DBM and a SWFA 1-4x.
