What say you? edit: Pretty sure I've made up my mind.... A fellow suspected it is an RS, but, it's definitely different than my RS. Note, hollows around the front takedown, and definite injected-poly-like grip cap. Early 90s poly? Shirley (lol) in hand, poly or not, is not a difficult choice... Hmmm. My RS. Modified but I don't recall there being a "grip cap" like an injection molded poly stock. Forearm Inletting is definitely different. IIRC, mine was solid for a couple few inches ahead of the recoil lug, unlike shown above.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

There are a couple of 700 AS rifles currently listed on GB if you want to go there and look at the pictures.
I think that they are pretty good stocks if you can buy them for under $100.
I have a couple the 700 AS stocks, LAs only, and Six Industries stocks for a Remington 700 Varmint and a Ruger 77 SA. I got the 700 Varmint stock cheap because a guy bought it for a Savage and found that it didn't fit. It was marked "SAV" in the barrel channel. Short Action Varmint, abbreveated SAV, could be a little confusing if you didn't recognize the inletting.

This is the texture of the AS... Definitely different. I think this unknown is simply an early 90s poly.... I have no other information besides those four pictures though, so open to persuasive comment.

Mine was but it was the texture that was different than the ones later Yes. I recall now a 7 with a texture just like the pictured unknown. Poly without any checkering... Researching, I found I'd had an AS before. LOL. That ain't one, nor RS. Some of this stuff was wayyy too long ago. LOL

I bought a stainless synthetic when they first came out, 91 or 92.
It was called a SS BDL Mountain rifle.
The inletting and texture are different.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!
