My brain switched over from deer to turkey this AM, and the first thing I found on the tube was this:

My Life as a Turkey

Definately worth a watch.

Same boat. My mind has switched over to winter squirrels and upcoming turkey. Deer season here went out on January 1. The only thing open right now is squirrel through February (then reopens in late spring). Winter hunting squirrel is a great way to start scouting for spring turkey. I, almost, NEVER encounter another hunter in the woods after deer saeason goes out. Our spring turkey season opens on April 9. I know some hunters that don't start doing their turkey scouting until a couple of weeks before season. I think a lot of hunters miss a great opportunity to start seeing and hearing the uptick in turkey activity that starts here sometime in the middle or end of February. In fact, by the time spring season comes in, the mating crescendo is already on the downturn. Most hens have been mated.

Regarding that video: I haven't seen that before but I'm starting watch now. Looks like it will definitely be worth watching. I'll have to finsih it tonight. Thanks for posting it.

I just finished watching it. Very interesting, indeed.

I do wonder how he filmed a Yellow Rat Snake swallowing a polt, or a hawk dropping one. I thought these were sudden and unexpected. Wonder if he's pulling Marty Stoufferr stunts, the wildlife videographer who staged fights between predators to include in his shows.

I was wondering the same thing, the scene with the rat snake seems like a easy one to stage but the hawk Scene seems a little more difficult to stage. Maybe they had some help from a falconry hunter to get it on video?

The question I had was......did the Turkey think it was a human or did the fruit cake think he was a turkey ?

Guy made a lot of money off the fact that birds imprint on the first thing they come in contact with out of the egg....

I raised some Mallard ducklings when I was a kid whose mother got run over by a car. They imprinted on me. After a day or so they would follow me anywhere I went. Raised them till they started to get normal feathers then my dad and I took them to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg Va and they took them and cared for them and let them reside in the park. It wasn't hard.

Shaman, his name is Joe Hutto, not John. Anyway, the book the film is based on is Illumination in the Flatwoods. Better than the movie, in my opinion.
