I'm new to turkey hunting. They are a recent arrival in our province. When deer hunting if I come across one it would be a bonus. Before you go on about lead, I worked in industry where lead contact was common. It's the personal stories not some environmentalist or industry supported government official that makes me cautious . You get leaded and the lead goes out of your pencil. I have a 2 3/4" 12 ga full choke pump. I just purchased a used MEC press so I expect to reload .
You can hunt longer with wind at your back

I have no problems if you don't want to shoot lead... I choose copper in my deer rifle where lead splatter occurs internally.
Look at the Hevi-shot or Kent TK loads (?) or up to TSS. I use no-lead because I hunt federal land where lead is banned. The heavier mass density lets you drop shot size to get higher pellet count up to keep higher pattern density & count at longer ranges. Its not a bad thing.
I wouldn't run steel because its lighter than lead. Only use steel for close shots.
Rogers sporting goods is a good place to shop.
Good luck.
Other than that, How was the show Mrs. Lincoln?

TSS. Look a few posts down in this forum. Several folks swear by it.

Harder shot patterns tighter than soft shot, so I would use bismuth shot if I were using a full choke. For steel or TSS, I would have the choke opened to about .020" or modified choke constriction. That would give you a full choke pattern with the harder shot.
