not Remlin Remington will acquire Marlin Firearms for an undisclosed amount, pursuant to finalization of an agreement made on December 26. They expect the transaction to close by the end of January, 2008.

If it was new in "18 or "19, it's a Remlin. As I recall, it should have (REP) stamped on the barrel, not JM. As such, it will not typically garner nearly as much money as a "JM" Marlin. Now that Ruger has acquired Marlin and is now shipping Ruger-made Marlin 1895s in 45-70, I suspect the Remlins will not appreciate. Based on your description, I would estimate value in the $500 - $700 range.
A few years back, I bought a Remlin 1895 when Walmart put them on clearance because of the quality control issues. I bought it for $299.95 with a Marlin $50 rebate which I redeemed bringing the total to $249.95. The rifle is beautiful, the iron sights are on straight, and the finish is good. Problem was that it wouldn't feed. I took it to Ranger Point Precision and for another $300 I have a smooth functioning, very accurate rifle with a 3.5 lb trigger for $550.00.
Sadly, Ranger Point no longer does gunsmithing. I took good advantage of their services when they did.

Don't need to look at the serial number... the barrel stamp will tell. Bought in 2018/2019, it's most likely a Remlin. unless it was on the shelf for quite some time.

Doesn't matter what you paid for yours "back when Walmart put them on sale". What matters is what they are going for right now. The Ruger 1895's are not priced anywhere near that low either.
Mitchell Mountain, go to gunbroker and look at what the bids are on the non JM Marlin 1895's, or better yet, look at the completed auctions. You'll find them going way north of $500 to $ 700.
If you sell here, most likely being a Remlin, disclose if it has any function issues.
Gunbroker asking prices and buy it now prices are NOT a good comparator. Some folks are pricing this stuff are way out of line. The number to look at is the "sold for" price. Your gun is only worth what someone will pay for it.

Understand the process, thanks for the input.
Going to add my reloading components and dies with it.
