I put a Seizmik hard-coated flip down unit on my Mule FXT last year. It's holding up well and I use the flip-feature a fair bit, as it can be 30F one morning and 80F the next afternoon this time of year. If you go with poly, spend the extra $70-100 for the hardcoat version. If you are going with a fixed windshield, glass is supposedly the best.
Now with even more aplomb

if you don't want to waste money, don't get plastic.... My thoughts as well - I went with glass and no regrets. I wanted the wiper/washer option for winter use and it's only available in glass for my machine. I do remove it in warm weather - unfortunately no one makes a glass tilting windshield with wiper/washer...

The plastic ones might as well be disposable. I had a factory plastic one on my Kubota RTV. No matter how careful you are they get covered in tiny scratches, which transform light into a bazillion refracted beams. My wife got me a glass one for my birthday this year. It almost makes me wish I had a full cab!

I started with a plastic windshield. After 2 years I was coming down a dusty mountain logging road and couldn't see. Got a DOT glass windshield and saved the old plastic to cover the glass when trailering. Also I installed a manual windshield wiper which has come in handy.

What some posters call DOT glass is AS-1 laminated glass, same as the glass in the windshield in your car or truck, by far the best way to go.............but does need to be mounted more securely than Plexiglas or lexan.
Biggest problem with Plexiglas and Lexan is they inherently have some amount of static electricity that attracts dust and no matter how careful you clean it , will still scratch

Good idea, still have a plastic flip up windshield and when that gets too bad will migrate to laminated glass. Used to cut laminated glass for tractor cabs, don’t know why it wouldn’t work for sxs’.

I’ve got plastic on my ranger.
7 yrs old.
Still in good shape.
I’ve tried my best not to wipe it off.
Always put some kinda soap on it. Then wash off with water hose.

Plastic with hard coat. 4 years and still looks good. Wash with soap and plenty of water and a microfiber mitt, hose of.

Glass.
I've had 4 rock chips. Fill with the diy repair kit. I would never have plastic or oolycarb.

Pay attention to shape also. We have a very nicely contoured one on a razor. Only complaint is that it funnels water straight to driver and passenger's crotches.

Another thought there is with the factory glass on mine which is contoured, if it cracks/breaks it's a whole new windshield/frame etc. With some aftermarket windshields that are flat vs contoured, local glass shops can replace glass for much less than a new windshield/frame.

Just ordered a DOT windshield for my RZR. I currently have a flip up poly windshield. It’s great in the summer and all but it scratches and it’s impossible to get water spots off of. The one I ordered has sliding vents on the bottom for air flow.
