The Aleutians are nasty any time of year.... Plenty of seafood around. Not all that hard to catch/harvest,/gather/ kill if you will.

Free passage.

One way.

On our way to Fairbanks, we usually fuel at the Wasilla 3- Bears. Lowest fuel prices around. There is a "homeless" guy there at the pull-off every single time- same guy. Wife keeps wanting to give him $5. I don't even slow down. I don't swerve to hit him either, in my defense...... smile

He is wearing clothes at least as good as mine, and looks well fed. Fug him.

Get a job, Bozo - they are begging for help most everywhere.

Wife volunteers one day a week at the local food bank. I've subbed for her a couple times. There is a group of 5 or 6 school bus drivers that come in for the free lunch every day, between driving shifts. They have jobs - I don't know the pay or their circumstances, but I suspect they don't really need the free meals- they could manage without, but hell, it's free, right?

But feeling sorry doesnt mean you should subsidize it.

Because they IMHO are allowed to.

My LEO son in law deals with the homeless on a pretty regular basis, when they encounter one who's OD and they have a history of having done so they don't give them any Narcan from the PD supply. Rather they call the paramedics and let them deal with them. If they expire in the meantime then so be it.

my city spends millions subsidizing the homeless. In return, the homeless provide the city with a never ending crime spree.

Just an age old story, at one time the homeless were drunks and Hobo's, now they're homeless drug addicts and drunks.

Might be time and money better spent focusing on breaking the cycle with the mass amount of offspring these types bring into the world so they don't just become the next generation of homeless drug addicts and drunks.

Tucker is spot on. This nation is being taken over. It's being done by the Cloward-Piven strategy. Which is by overloading the system to the point of collapse and when the system is destroyed and people are screaming to fix the problem.; those who collapsed the system will come to the rescue and "fix" things the way they want it. Funny part is how America has become too fat, dumb and happy to even realize it and just sit back and allow it to happen. The drug and alcohol addicted masses have become nothing more than political lobbyists for the purposes of the socialist left. Welcome to the Great Society, folks.

One of the local bums in our town finally died a day ago. Most of the downtown folks knew him. He’d been on the streets for years. Anytime the weather got bad (too hot or extremely cold) he’d do something to get arrested. He’d stay cool or warm and well fed for 30 days in jail, then he’d return to his back ally hangout. He was like a stray dog. Feed him and he’d return for more handouts, run him off and he’d return but keep his distance. Never did any good. Mostly dug through the dumpsters looking for anything but making a heck of a mess for someone else to clean up. I took a picture of him passed out in front of a local business entrance and showed it to the local councilman and mayor. Their response was “be glad you don’t live in a bigger town, it’d be worse”. Typical politician!

I also learned the city received federal funding for giving free stuff such as food and housing. Because of that a few “soup kitchens” popped up. The surrounding cities were bussing their homeless folks to our town to rid their problem and pile on ours. The local residents finally had enough of it and started complaining. We still have a homeless issue but it seems to be hidden instead of blatantly left out in the open.

I have no use for the homeless bums and drug addicts.

I think they are programmed to self destruct. I've been helping out a guy in his 70's who gets social security but not enough to live on given today's rent prices.....'bout $1200 a month. He could probably make it if he owned a home......that is bad decision number 1. Pissing money away on BS throughout life.

Guy's back is legitimately shot and he has other health problems. He can't do much but he could do something but won't because he has enough SS to almost get by. Bad decision 2.

Bad decision number 3 is he has an anger problem that has destroyed his life. Caused him to get fired from jobs and piss off landlords over many years. Pissed off family so bad they are done with him. After him living in a car for a year I and others finally got him in subsidized housing and he was paying like $200 ish a month when market is $ 1,000 and all utilities were included except electric. Long waiting list in these parts for that kind of govt largesse. He could not get along with the mostly black residents. He saw some stuff going on that wasn't right and felt the need to call the cops constantly when the managers (also black) would not do anything. Some of the people there were crazy. One threw some detergent on him in the laundry room and he called her a nagger beotch. That got him kicked out. All the while me and others kept telling him to keep his effing mouth shut....that the place was run by and for blacks and him being white with a big mouth was no advantage. WOULD NOT LISTEN. If you are gonna be a "grumpy old man" you better have some money.

Lived in a car for another couple of months during the heat of summer here and by the grace of God got in another subsidized place with mostly old white people but it costs 600 plus a month, still a great deal compared to the market. So far he is doing well but I expect he is going to find a way to eff it up based on history.

Guy is not on drugs or alcohol.....he just ain't quite right in the head. But to be around him in casual situations, you would not know.

In PA, at least, the definition of homeless has changed so now, if a child isn't living where he/she wants to be, they can be considered homeless. So, if I was temporarily living with my besty grandparents instead of my fighting parents, I'm homeless. That now means I can choose to go to any school I want and the schools have to transport me there. That's been tested in the courts and a line has been drawn that you can't be in Philly and get transported to Erie for school but there's a lot of leeway left in the mix, and some schools find it nearly impossible to meet the family's demands.

At the same time, the numbers of homeless students being reported have climbed quicky, making the libtards try to send even more money their way. It's getting ridiculous out there, now that families have figured this out.

They choose a path in their life at some point of either being a productive member of society or being feral...

Got 0 empathy or pity for em.
They are a burden to society .
A burden to taxpayers
And a cultivated cash cow/ political toy/ .gov program reason for Liberal Socialist Democrats in too many ways to even contemplate or list.

Late last summer when running to Charlottesville 2-3 times weekly over a couple of months I saw the same.
Stoplight at the end of a off ramp.

The guy would smirk at you if you didn't pay him any mind.
Always had smokes and nice clean clothes.

The "homeless" issue (we called them bums when I was growing up and threw s hit at them), was started by a democrat law firm in concert with the ACLU who sued (and the gov't caved) saying we were violating their "rights". Now as others have said here it's a liberal-guilt "cottage industry" with no end in sight.. But here's an idea...

There was one thing I noticed after talking to to them about their lives. Everyone one was a drug addict and chose to live on the streets vs living in a shelter. Shelters had rule ( no drugs or alcohol), curfews and would immediately kick you out if you didn't follow the rules. There is this myth that the homeless are economic victims who work hard and just cannot afford housing. Or have mental illness . Some may have some some form of mental illness but their main issue is drug addiction.

Real estate developers ( Dem donors and politicians) have made billions off of this ongoing scam

If only that were true. The problem persists because there is natural recruitment.

Nearly 841,000 people have died since 1999 from a drug overdose.1 In 2019, 70,630 drug overdose deaths occurred in the United States. The age-adjusted rate of overdose deaths increased by over 4% from 2018 (20.7 per 100,000) to 2019 (21.6 per 100,000).

Overdose deaths

I sure don't have an answer, but it doesn't seem we really want to "fix" anything.

They say everything happens for a reason.
For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

Homeless is just another scam for politicians to steal taxpayers money. When money starts flowing to any cause you need to take a close look. Kick backs are almost always involved. Hasbeen

To be honest , I only saw a few homeless people in my life. There was one about 20 miles south of here living under a bridge. That was the only homeless person I ever saw anywhere around here. However, the reason there are no homeless people is cause I live among conservatives.
