I have a similar issue with a 45-70. I’m taking mine to a gun smith
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

I have been working on a friends old pre safety 1894 Marlin in 44 Magnum. She has had nothing but trouble with it. The cartridges start tipping downwards in the magazine tube and jamming the cycling. It also binds up in the carrier and you must remove the lever to get this abortion to free up and work. When I worked on it again last week, the lever was halfway down and bound up. Removing the finger lever screw. it still needed to be driven out with a pin punch to relieve the bind. Haven't been able to determine the problem as once freed up it wont malfunction again for a time and then the fun starts again.

You need to remove a very small amount of material off the timing cam on the lever that starts the carrier up. This will slow down the timing enough to let the cartridges clear the Mag tube.

Thanks I will give that a try.

Just go slowly as if you do too much you will have a hard time finding replacement parts
