Have had several boxes stashed away for several years now. Would these work well in an 06 for elk or should I move up a bit in weight?

The PGs were designed to retain a higher weight-percentage than standard Partitions of the same weight.

They won't work. If fact, they are crap.

I'll take them off your hands so you don't get caught using them..... whistle

This thread is reminding me of the 30-06 200gr Load thread (https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/11552552/1) - was one of the threads that reminded me why I stopped lurking & joined in. For better or for worse.

Bobin was an awesome guy. I talked to him a lot through PM's and texts. He shot a lot. It seemed like every time I was at the range, he was too. That guy knew his guns and even though he was not a writer per se, he was one hell of a good writer. I always enjoyed reading his stuff..

Some years back, Grafs used to send out a sale sheet with stuff just on a list, no pics or descriptions. I picked up five boxes of those for $8 or $9 a box. Those shot nicely from several ‘06s over 46gr of H4895. For some reason, I’ve struggled to get them or the regular ones to shoot well in .308s. Other 150s have been fine, but mostly I use 165-ish bullets now.

I found them very easy to load for in the .30/06 and half inch groups were usual.
During my reviews at the time of release, I used them on Aussie feral game and Fallow deer. Nothing I shot was big enough to stop one.

OP, yes that bullet will be Ok, maybe not ideal. Elk are easy to kill, except when they're not. Meaning if you shoot them in the middle of the front half you got him. On the other hand, if you shoot him around the edges you may never see him again. A wounded deer hit hard but not immediately fatal seldom go far, but elk can and will carry on for hundreds of yards if not a mile or more never to be seen again because most of today's hunters absolutely suck at tracking.

What is the difference between the regular partition snd the partition Gold? Does the frontal portion of the Gold retain more weight?
