Slumlord: You are mostly off base here! I had a body guard assignment years ago where our crew was hired to provide security for Mr. Meatloaf for two days while he was doing a "stint" out on the west coast. Anyway unbeknowst to us he was a non-drinker, non-drugger, non-womanizer type guy! He was courteous to our crew, and not condescending at all to us - which is rather rare amongst "hollywood types"! That aside he did play the part of "rock-star" but now I think he did so to accumulate his vast fortune - and I can not fault him for that. He sold MILLIONS of albums and appeared in 65 movies one of his albums (Bat Out Of Hell) is to this day one of the top ten selling albums OF ALL TIME! This album (from 1977!) to this day, currently sells over 200,000 (two hundred thousand!) albums every year. To say he was a MAJOR success would be an understatement! Try to deride him if you wish, but in this instance I contend YOU are flat out wrong. Plus he was a REPUBLICAN! Rest in peace Meatloaf (Michael Lee Aday). Hold into the wind VarmintGuy Somebody ^^^^^^ got Meatloaf to sign his autograph on his moobs. Lol 🦫

I never saw him in concert but, they say he gave everything he had. Even passed out from exhaustion sometimes. R.I.P. Big man.

Why does everyone feel it necessary to try to put his real name, wrongly more often than not of course, like you guys were personal friends from way back. On the two threads so far I’ve seen him called Michael, and Mark, while the article clearly stated Marvin. Everyone knew him as Meatloaf, nobody is thinking about how cool it is to call him by the wrong given name.
RIP Meatloaf, you were a talent sir. He was born Marvin. Chose Michael And his name was Meat Loaf.......not Meatloaf

Received this from Weber Grills today:
This morning you received our weekly "Recipe of the Week" email, which is sent to you every Friday.
In today's email we highlighted a grilled meatloaf recipe. At the time we shared this recipe with you, we were not aware of the unfortunate passing of American singer and actor Mr. Marvin Lee Aday, also known as Meat Loaf.
We want to express our deepest apologies for this oversight and for any offense this email may have caused.
We send our condolences to Mr. Aday's family and fans.
Thank you for understanding.

While I never cared for his music,I always gave him credit as alot of people really dug his stuff.
To this day if "Paradise by the dashboard light "comes on I change the channel.

Slumlord: No problemo I just kind of liked the guy - he is one of the few rockers of that era I did not get to see perform.
beaver10: Don't be stupid - or maybe thats impossible for you? I have never asked any of the movie stars or rock stars I worked with for an autograph. And those stars include John Wayne, Janis Joplin, Sylvester Stallone, Yul Brenner, Steppenwolf, The Rolling Stones, B.B. King, Lindsey Wagner, Nick Nolte, Meg Ryan, Tom Hanks, Charlton Heston, Andre The Giant, Jimmy Morrison and dozens of others! In fact after I retired from law enforcement and went to work with a private security and robbery suppression outfit they forbade any of us agents to ask celebs for autographs or personal favors of any kind. So my advice to you is NOT to speak of things you are ignorant of as it makes you sound stupid (stupider?)! Sheesh. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

"... In the cold and lonely of the deep dark night...."
Varmitguy, if, as you seem to indicate, he was a relatively good person, the I wonder if he talked his way around the "Stop right there..." At Saint Peter's Gate... Is he lovin' Jesus 'til the end of time?
RIP meatloaf

This is a big loss, If you really listen to his music he was a very talented man, Paradise By The Dashboard Lights got me to thinking about the girls I dated, after 35 years of marriage I'm still not praying for the end of time. Well....he could indeed sing but he didn't write the song
